Seem to remember reading about something on here a while back about some of these citroen/peugeot hdi engines running for several seconds even after the key was removed from the ignition.
But I cant seem to locate the article anyone remember what was doing this, sticking relay, faulty contacts on back of ignition etc.
Engine always switches off it's just that it takes about 4-5 seconds to do it !
Anyone remember or give a pointer on this one as I'm about to look at an x plate hdi xara in a few days with this fault and it would be nice if there was something to go to straight away and start checking.

Thanks for that Ian but It's an HDI thus it's got the electric injectors, I suppose the ecu could be getting kept on which would keep the injectors open.
Getting the car on friday to look at, This isnt too much of a worry at the moment but a little worried the fault goes from a few seconds to not going off at all.

Try changing the solenoid on top of the high pressure injection pump on the engine, this will have 3 t20 torque bolts to remove it. This is effectively the stop solenoid.

Thanks for the reply DB, but the car was actually smashed by the woman on the day I was supposed to get it !
However I will bear this in mind as it's not the first time I've heard of people complaning about this problem.
I initially thought it may have been something like a relay or something but I had never really been involved in this exact fault thus nice to get a bit of clarification.
P.S. In retrospect after reading this I think this was what Ian was trying to tell me but I never thought about it properly, oops!!!
Anyway thanks very much guys, info like this is always useful to know.

the solinoid is ctrl'd by the ecu behind the shield on the pump mate. removed a few ecu's and wired the solinoid direct from an ignition live on a few of these. does away with the imob but is a cheap fix if they start having ecu probs. if you need any diagrammes for anything like this in the future just give me a shout and i will mail you them.

Hi Ian, thanks for that, I have done that with a traditional type pump on a normal diesel but never gave it much though with an hdi.
Unfortunetly The car doesnt run at all now as the front end is near the bulkhead ! luckily the woman wasnt hurt.
Thanks for the reply though.
