I own a 416Sli which is a 96 model. LHD as I'm living out in Israel. Had the car 8 years now and she's hardly gave me any bother apart from the usual servicing and general mechanics.

Anyway, I need some advice on something that's really bugging me. Car drives sweet as a nut and has no acceleration, deceleration probs etc but when I park her and slip (she's an auto) her into "Park" almost every time the revs will jump up to around 1200 rpm then really quickly fall to about 400rpm resulting in loads of car vibration. I've also noticed that when even turning the lights off the revs will increase about 100rpm, same with wipers. I know this is to be expected with the heater blower and rear heated window but is it normal also with lights and wipers?

Apart from the above there are no starting probs whatsoever (touch wood) and the car really does run very smoothly, so before I start shelling out for things I don't need, has anyone experienced this problem before and can advise how they sorted it?? Would be really grateful for the advice, cheers.

Also, one other thing. The headlining on the car is starting to separate. Well, the cotton is seperating from the foam base. Anyone ever experienced this and if so, how did you manage to bond them back together??? To say it's extremely annoying would be the understatement of the year!!
Thanks, Tony

Fine mate, never a bit of bother. Also, if I'm driving and pull up to the lights and stop but leave the motor in D and just sit with my foot on the brake, she'll tick over at around 800rpm all day. It's only when I stick her in P and lift my foot off the brake that she'll start lumping it and soemtimes feathering the throttle will make it go away, although not always.
