hi
if you take it to a q-fit or sim they will check the battery and also the alternator out put for you.
As you just bought the car it may be that the battery has deteriated through lack of use whilst the car was on the dealers forcourt.

I have had the same problem for some time with my 306 TD Estate. If I don't use the car for a couple of days the battery drains quite quickly (it's worse in the winter, obviously because I'm using the lights, etc more). I don't think it's the alternator as it charges up OK, something is actually draining the battery. Someone suggested it may be a faulty earth. I had exactly the same thing with my previous car, a Ford Escort, so I assumed it was just my driving habits because I don't use the car every day and do mostly shortish journeys. It looks like maybe if you do use it a lot, it's recharging each day so it's actually masking the problem.

no i think youve just been unlucky sure only using the car a little at a time wont help any aspect of your motor you should take it for a long run 1 to 2 hours warm it properly on clear roads once a week this might help but even so the charge should still hold if all was well alarms stay on all the time slowly draining the battery if its misfunctioning it will drain it quicker does it have an alarm do you use it ! can you disconnect it to see if it is the problem hope this will help :) good luck

Thanks for your reply mocinim. Yes, it has an alarm but I don't use it much, I just lock it and rely on the immobiliser as it drains more with it on. I'm not sure how I would disconnect it anyway. I do give it at least one good run a week mainly to keep a decent charge in the battery.
