im sorry i know this is only my opinion but i dont get why people rehome a dog when theyre pregnant (unless the dog is aggressive or something) i mean are dogs and kids not aloud to mix these days? i hav a 6year old cattle dog who is older than 3 of my brothers and sisters. we have always had dogs in our family whilst all of us have been growing up so i dont understand the free to good home im pregnant thing

sorry if i sound rude i just dont get it seens most dogs are great with kids

oh sorry i just re read your post. if she is attacking the smaller dog then thats a reason id say is fair but i dont understand people who just rehome because theyre pregnant because if you had a kid and then you get pregnant ya dont give away the older kid do ya?

this isnt directed at you btw. i see that if the dog is fighting with your other dog then it really is the best thing to do for both dogs. just be careful where you rehome him/her

good luck

My daughter lived for 2 years with 2 dogs attacking each other they lived all day with muzzles on because of serious injury. She rehomed one of them (it had already killed one of her cats) but she would not let her go until she got the right home. The new owners knew all the problems before they took her amd she has a great home. The reason for their fighting was my daughters hormones (if you know what l mean) be honest with new owners and ask them to keep in touch

Aww Lee, we know there are some genuine people out there and i understand your pain. I do not like people rehoming animals which are older or pregnant or without good reason. However, when i got pregnant with my daughter (i was only 19) i rehomed my springer on the advice of family and friends. Wot a mistake! I missed her so much i went and got her back! lol Having sed that though, we didnt have the same issues which you do.
As for the attacking your other dog - i have also rehomed a dog myself for that reason. When i took him in i was told he was great with cats, house trained and fine with other dogs. Within five minutes of getting him home - he tried to kill the cat..sprayed pooh ALL over the house, then tried to kill my other dog six inches from my daughter's face!
Even with all that though, he was a verrry loving dog to me (and the kids) and the decision to rehome him was physically painful. I cried for weeks after he'd gone and still miss him now..so obviously i understand that there are people out there who do have good reasons!
Please dont be put off by this discussion - im sure most people get cross with the silly ads, but we do know that real life is often not simple and obviously sometimes rehoming really is the best option. Maybe you could get the new owners to email you pics/stories of how your dog is doing every month or so? That way you wont upset yourself or the dog by going to actually see it again, but you will still know how it is. :-)

Aww its so exciting isnt it?! Waiting for the new arrival to be ready. Time to go out and buy all those lavish treats/beds/etc while you are waiting! lol
My daughters think im terrible - whilst waiting for our kitten i bought a MASSIVE dog cage to keep him safe from the dogs overnight..little tartan cushioned bed..new litter..special food..kitten milk - but the worst i bought him? A snuggle-blanky..LOL Kids think im mental but he really likes to be snuggled in it. Its my 8yr old's cat by the way, not mine (tee-hee!)

Hi, just to update you all since my posting last week. We spoke to our dogs new owners yesterday and she has settled in really well, it sounds like she's been spoilt rotten and even sleeps at the bottom of their bed. I feel alot better knowing she's not been distressed although I'm really missing her especially at times like when I started looking for her food bowl and then realised we don't have it anymore. Our other dog seems happier too and her personality has come out alot now she's not always being dominated by the other dog.
We were honest with her new owners as it would be awful if in future they'd got a second dog and had to rehome her again if they had the same problem.
I think whatever someones's reasons for rehoming a pet they should just be honest about them so the pet can get the home most suited to it.

it is tough but you know you done it for the right reasons and both dogs will be happier in the long run

*HUGS FOR YOU!*

Lee im really glad your dog seems to have settled well, there's nothing worse than worrying about them but knowing there is nothing you can do..! I agree with you, as long as you are 100% honest then you will find the right home and they will understand why you are rehoming and any forthcoming issues the dog may have.
Well done for doing such a hard thing!

so pleased for everyone, new puppies, new homes, new stuff!! I was a sod with my goldie, my baby (even with the kids, she is the best baby). I have brought so many toys, leads, bowls, she is our third dog, so its not that we didn't already have stuff. Insisted on dog bars for the first time ever, so she would be safe - yeah, safe from the bl**dly kids! - now have a new (ish) car, that she covered in hair as she was in full moult when the car came, hubby went loopy, but I just told him to naff off, as she is my baby and can shed hair where ever she likes - whinge like mad at my daughter whose long blonde hair gets everywhere! Kids think she is top of the pack, I kick them off the settee so she can go to sleep, buy toys whenever I can, Iz now has an impressive collection, any pet store would be jealous!

Beautiful puppy in the photo, nice happy ending too.

I am pleased that your (daughter's) second dog has a happy home, I have never rehomed one of my dogs, but have had to rehome cats for various reasons - one walked out, probably my hormones as I was three weeks overdue with my daughter, didn't like living with myself, so could understand his reasons, I did find out where he was living and the lady was pleased to let him stay with her motley crew, ended up moving and travelling 300 miles every summer to see him LOL! - my other cat was old (rescued him ancient) and kept messing in the house just as my daughter was starting to crawl, tried everything, but then someone kindly offered to take him in, he had a lovely last few months - still messing in the house! - its hard when you have to make a decision.

aww doobs shes gorgeous :0)she will help you come to terms with your loss so much my pup did after my old boy had to be pts last nov i swore never again would i have a dog 6 weeks on i said this house isnt a home anymore somethings missing along came suki home complete again and i swear she is the twin of my old boy personality wise she does just what he did except she loves cats he hated them

nobby i,m the same with the dog and my parrots (the parrots not the dog)they have chewed our brand new leather sofa but the kids arent allowed on it hehe the dog sleeps on it plays on it jumps on it but the kids cant if the birds chew something i,m like hey hoo thats parrots for you (a grey and a cockatoo btw) the kids trash something i go mental my parrots are my babies they so much like kids actually no they worse lmao

i dont get the re home due to new baby thing either unless the dog attacks the child or the other dogs
i had a foster dog in (a lurcher from full on working stock the if it moves kill it line from gypseys )when i was having my 6 yr old girl the day i bought her home the lucher jumped on the sofa next to her laid down licked her then refused point blank to allow any of the other dogs near her she actually went to kill the one dog and wouldnt let me near her either growling and full on protect which in one way was sweet
but i couldnt have that as i had 6 dogs 3 foster 3 mine so i had to let her go to a new home but she wasnt strictly mine really i just nursed her thru parvo as a tiny pup and i had kept her longer than i should have done really but she went to a homechecked vetted family via work so i know shes ok she is over in the usa now lucky dog

i think what gets most people is the wording its hard to be truthful on a short add but on here you have space to say the truth and just putting needs new home due to a baby isnt the nicest way of putting it really is it especally if there is a lot more to it than that
