Exhaust gas smell

Cruises @ 70mph, always starts, really is faultless BUT, the exhaust gas very strong. Getting circa 20mpg. (Passed MOT well within tolerances). Should it smell like this? Are there still Crypton style tuning machines still available? If so is it worth paying to have it analyzed or should I just leave well alone? Thanks Dave

The system is not leaking it's just the exhaust gas at the exit from the pipe. New full exhaust 14 months ago. It's the mixture I am concerned with! Thanks for taking the trouble to read & reply. Hope yours is going well Dave
