Hi all, Help, I've had our 1991 petrol Autosleeper Harmony for around 8 months now & I STILL can't work out how the tables fit to make up the beds! I worked out how to do the very uncomfortable single beds down each side. It didn't come with an owners manual! Also, the springs at the rear have had their day by the look of them, are there replacements around or assisting bags/blocks etc? There is a zig unit above the back doors but It doesn't charge the leisure battery! all the fuses are fine, there doesn't seem to be a transformer either! last, is it possible to fit power steering to this van as I think my wife would have trouble driving it as it is, I have quite a high pressure in the front tyres but it is really heavy on the steering!
Cheers
Geoff, Bristol

Hi I also have a Harmony and the bed is made up by making up the two side beds then putting the table tops between them and using the two long backrests for the middle bit, you might then have a gap between the front seats as this was an extra ! but there is on this site some plans to make one up (but please don`t ask me where) The zig unit does not charge the battery this is done whilst driving, or you have to have a separate charger for when connected to the mains which I have on mine. There are lots of discussions on the Talbot forum with regard to the rear suspension and there are loads of measures to remedy the problems so look at the Talbot Express forum and you will find nearly every thing you need to know. Enjoy your Harmony and I hope you sort out all your queries, Wyn. PS I do have all the original instructions and could scan and send you certain bits if you want. And yes you can get power steering fitted but at over £1000 is it worth it ?

Thanks very much for the quick reply! I'll try to see how the tables fit, I did try them but they didn't seem wide enough (it has had a new floor before I bought it so if the seats where put back in wrong the gap may be too wide!) Where is the talbot forum?
I also need to get the Valiant MAG gas water heater working, It lights & then goes out! I replaced the thermocouple but it didn't improve things.
Again, thanks
Geoff

Hi Geoff look in motorhome forum where you posted this you will see talbot Express forum. I have a carver cascade in mine so dont know about yours ! if you put a question in all carver questions you will probably get a reply from Gary who knows simply anything about water heaters and and any other type of heating ,good luck Wyn. PS just noticed you are in Bristol I`m often down your way as I live in Ross-on-Wye !.

Hi
Can't help with your bed problem, but rear springs are easy to fix as I did mine.

You need a set of spring assisters from Grayston Engineering. 020 8974 1122. For my Merlin they cost me £135.00 money well spent.

You get 4 small coil springs and fitting brackets, should take you about 2hr to fit.

The rear springs on Merlin were bent backward and on bump stops all time.
The assisters lifted the rear end by 5 inch at tow bar. the ride is much better and cornering feels safer.

Hope this helps. Bill

Hi Bill, All sorted ordered the kit on Friday, delivered Monday, Fitted this lunchtime in around an hour, (but I do have the room to work indoors in a heated hangar!) what a difference! because the rear is raised around 4" from the sagging mess it once was It has altered the castor angle of the steering which in turn has made the steering a bit lighter! All in all, a result!
Cheers
