HELP: Vauxhall Astra, engine management light on dashboard!!!!!!

Hello,

I have the engine management light on dashboard, it has stayed on continually for a couple of days now.
But it doesn't look affect anything, is it necessary to fix?

If so, I'm not sure where can I fix it and cost? I'm in Reading, Berkshire.

My astra is 1.4V, 2000year.

Please help, thank you very much in advance.

Id suggest you get it checked by a mobile eletricaian approx £45 mayby plus vat or more at a dealers. some one might come along who can tell you how to test it for fault code yet though. but your cars worth a few grand so best get it looked at quite quickly. ask who ever does it to show you the fault code in thewir book just incase you get a dodgy one.

sorry bud only thing i know in reading is where the festival is and the local supermarket fot larger lol. just try a couple from yellow pages see who sounds right.

Hello! In Bristol my "friendly" local vauxhall dealer does the above job for 35 pounds.. for this they hook your car up to the diagnostics computer and it shows what's faulty.. good luck!

I have had this Light very often over a number of years now and it has never caused my engine to malfunction. I have a 1999 vauxhall astra so I hope this helps you

Hi! If you only want to do the service just because of this fault I suggest you don't, It will cost you a lot more than a diagnostics check. I think it's worth to get it checked out at a Vauxhall or Bosch garage to prevent a possible damage to your car. They will tell you what the problem is and you can still decide if you want them to go ahead with the repair. The whole thing takes about 30 min. if you make an appointment. There are three Vauxhall garages in Reading, phone around for the cheapest!
You can still buy the "sparkers", that will do no harm especially if you don't know when were they replaced before. It will cost about 20 pounds (good quality, set of four) if you replace them yourself.
