I have got a delco 500 player for my astra. It slotted straight in and the radio works fine.(it didn't need the code putting in) The problem is that it rejects cd's and the dash displays ER-1. any ideas?

just double checking you are using shop bought music CD's and have trid a few. just to clear up the silly things

Hello again Blig,
The following is taken straight from the Vauxhall Owners Audio manual found in the service pack up:

"Error message/symptom: Unit switches back to radio

Possible cause: After the CD inserting procedure: CD incorrectly inserted.
Incompatible audio CD inserted
CD scratched or otherwise damaged

Remedy: Insert an undamaged and compatible CD with the printed side upwards"

That's from the book.

I suffered this problem as well and used a CD cleaning disc to spruce the reading head up a bit.

hi

need some help!, i just bought an astra a couple of days ago, and earlier 2day tried changing the radio for a cd player from my old car,

the cd player gets power, turns on and off but i dont seem to be picking up the radio at all!

So I removed my cd player, till i can get assistance, but i now have another problem>>

upon entering the original astra radio system, it all went in fine, but a safe code came up where i have to enter a 4 digit passcode for the system to work (im fine with that) so i entered the code that i received with the car but it doesn't work, i repeat tried it, then tried a similar code, but got nothing! it just keeps counting down the amount of tries i got left, so now i have no radio at all from either the cd player or the original radio system, PROBLEM!!

hope someone can help me with this, i will be extremly greatful if i can be helped with either of the problems (cd player and radio)

thinking you must have the wrong code, for radio it is not unknown for peple to say o theres the code for it. last one i bought the guy said i dont know if thats the right code. very decent of him.
as for the cd player did t come out of a vauxaul as i know they used diffent conections/pos even wirering years ago. i dismantled old and new and manally clamped the wirers to get it to work as couldnt be bothered to go and buy adsaptor.

the back of the radio and the cd player r identical, bar slight differences, nd i got an astra G mk4 so its a new model and dont know if that effects the layout or anything, im not sure if the arial reaches the little aparture on the bak of the cd player as it seems to be set a little bit deeper in the player than the radio, which may be the problem, if it is that than , i got a problem with connecting up (dont know how ill solve that!)
