went to lanzarote about,6 years ago,but it was fab.The weather is fantastic, playa grande beach along the main strip,is excellent and very clean.Amust for all visitors to lanzarote is timanfaya national park, where there is over 100 live volcanos, which you are shown experiments on how hot it is below the surface. It really does`nt sound too exiting, but believe me it is.Also you have a chance to ride the camels,a real laugh. But do remember it is quite cold,at the beginning of the excursion,as you are so high up,so take a light jacket. The best bar i found to drink was Linekers bar,top of main strip, but as i said it was a couple of years ago.HAPPY HOLIDAYING!!!!!!!

Lanzarote is great been 6 times we always stay in costa teguise but go to pueto del carmen for the day every time we go i love the place beach is fantastic, you must go to the fire mountains well worth the visit, Playa Blanca is another nice place. It can be chilly at night, but hot during the day wish i was going this year LOL..... The Airport is a pain loadsa walking to fetch your cases when you get there..If you have kids there is a water park we have never been but heard that it is good. Plenty of shows around the island. You can get a bus from Pueto del Carmen to Teguise if you go there they have a friday evening Market full of local things and gifts. Also there is a HUGE Sunday morning market in Old Teguise town you have to get there early tho because that gets really busy but your rep should be able to give you more info on that but would be cheaper if you went there with yourselves most taxi's would take you and not that dear either but be prepared to que on your return back for taxi!!! Sorry getting carried away now, there is a submarine in Pueto del carmen you can take a trip well worth that too. Famara beach is another nice place if you like water sports and very windy. And last but not least sorry if i am boring you. El Golfo is a lagoon on a beach you cant swim in it it is bright green (as featured in the film 10,000 years BC, Rachel welch walks out of it) You can collect semi precious stones of this beach which are green like crystals called olivena. HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY!!!! Andrea

Just back from a week there. Play Blanca was our base, nice resort with good restaurants. El Golfo village gave us our best food, just pick a restaurant on the sea front you can't go wrong. A MUST visit is Jameos del Agua in the north of the island - surrealism at it's absolute finest - but in a user friendly way - just trust me ... go there and experience something very special. All this and barren too !!

Hi there, My family own an apartment in puerto del carmen. I love it there. Do you know if you are staying in the old town or new? the old town is near the harbour.. which is great to jump off and you can do some watersports there like banana boat, jetskis. also scuba n snorkel are great there too. i would recommend a very local restaurant. only small on the main street not far from the fried chicken restraunt. its called maritonis.. seriously make a note of this place. the food is amazing, they have a great range of everything all at cheap prices. the owners are lovely and theyre great with kids.. also theres an italian called la dolce vita.. one in the old and new town. in the new town very far up there is a wonderful mexican. let me just explain if your facing the beach the new town is to your left and the old to your right. there are more bars in the new town for a club night out if you like that. shopping isnt the greatest but there is a fab complex with bodyshop, foot locker, zara etc in the old town if you follow the road round. the green caves is a reccommened day trip in lanzorote. but if you have kids (or even if you dont) the aqua park is always worth a pop. its not the best but its a good day out. Tara

hi, I have never suffered with mossy bites, until a couple of years ago, in Turkey, got bitten - loads! - and they swelled to small golf ball size. I did eventually go to the doctors and they gave me antibiotics, as the size and itching, was really painful. The pills worked and the swelling went down, but has left me with a small scar. I now take anti-histamines during the 'biting' season, as I have reacted ever since.

..........the young, hip, nightlife capital of the world..........I'm middle aged - 30ish, boring with kids, hubby, dogs and cats............thats a no then! Glad your other half is healing, they take some time, and for me, mossy bites are now only of the huge swelling variety, but the antihistamines help.
We are off to Herm, one of the Channel Islands, where the nightlife is nil, wine flows freely from the tent and the kids enjoy doing nothing, no electricity means no psp's or computer stuff, just old fashioned crab hunting and shell collecting, sound dull but its perfect! Last boat leaves the island at 7pm and then nothing arrives until around 9/10am the next morning. One pub/restaurant and two small shops! Perfect for us grumpies!!
