Love the idea of sewing, my sewing machine came off the ark and is used to prop up yet more junk in the wardrobe. My nan would turn in her grave, she used to spend every tuesday evening when we were kids, teaching us, sadly I am just rubbish!

Noooo, sewing machines scare me..lol But i do all mine by hand. If the girls have anything to dress up for we buy clothes/material from charity shops and alter them to make new costumes. I can take up trousers and mend everything (think my 8yr old should have been born a boy - rips everything whilst climbing trees etc!) Both my girls enjoy sewing too and make little costumes for their dolls and barbies all the time. They are very creative really. I dont think its a dying art. :-)

Hi I hate sewing ie mending and making clothes but am on a Textile course which I love. We have done a lot of experimenting with various textile techniques love the soluble fabric you can get lovely lace effects.
Finished the first year and have signed up for the second. Its such a free medium to translate your arty ideas. Anyone else into this? Would love to hear from you.

I used to love getting the sewing machine out, i bought mine for just over £200 a couple of years ago. I was always sewing when i was in school which was 16 years ago i made curtains, duvet covers, cushion covers and shorts. I suppose making dog clothes is like making any other stuff use cotton materials as thats what they use with the ones they sell in the shops. Best of luck with your dog clothes making.

Hi everyone,

My mother keeps on about the old Singer (pristine condition) hand machine that she wants me to sell but I want to keep it although don't have anywhere to put it. Plus from previous experience I know that me and any machine doesn't work LOL Although I was stunned to discover an old diary from my late teens lately where I had written about the skirt and dress I had sewn. No memory of that.

My son is extremely ambitious and went to a tailor and mentioned he wanted to sew his own coat so was given special patterns and things for free. He bought the material and designed it. I don't think he has a clue how hard it will be. I'm betting it will still be unmade for a few more years, but he might just prove me wrong.

I like to read what other people are making.

i made around 200 dog collars and leads for a charity to sell in england. i supplied the materials and made them, they were to sell them and keep the proceeds for their organisation, it was very worth while giving the fact im not a profesional at it.i had what was left over up for sale but never go any response. to make collers and leads its nylon webbing you would need and things called d.rings you can also get plastic connectors to fasten the collers. if you want i could email u some pics of the pieces you would need to make the collers.

no charge at all. you will enjoy makin them when you get the hang of it, i did but i got a bit sick doing nearly 300 of them in 2wks. :-) .keep a good eye on the one thats poorly.plentyl tlc does the trick its amazing how they respond when they are ill. i had a close call with willy last wk , i let her out fr a wee and when she came in she went straight to bed which was unusual, so i looked all over her and nothing ,so she looked up at me i noticed under her chin was cut, its a cut that suggest that something had ripped a piece of her throat out.i went loopy and fussed as one does but she just wanted to curl up on me.i kept her warm and did her milk ect and she never left her bed for 3 days but was eating ok. her wound stopped bleedng quickly. the vet said if she doesnt eat or drink to take her in. all turned out ok but she was unsure about going out for her wee. you never incuded you address for the collers, or have i missed it in the email ive packeged them already.oh well tea andtoast time.

hi. try not to wrry about her she must be over the worst, yes she will have lost a wee bit of weight but with the tlc and feeding she should be fine.she looks chirpy enough .the man next door to me hates cat and he keep a loft of pigeons round his bk garden with about 30 birds in it. i have had several run ins with himand told him hurt my cat and you will wish you had never met me or my cat.when i fist moved hear he used to power wash her of the fence i have then i caught him launching a tennis ball at her, honest the old man should bowl for scotland i heard the hit . i tried toget over the fence to him but my daughter had me by the knickers. i came indoors and phoned the cat protection.i take the cat outand stand wit her. the sad thing is shes scared of all the pigeons and when he lets them out she bolts back in the back door. im going to be trying out wee tiny clothes for the little dogs so i will send you some pics if it works :-).well i will go and get on with my work. pam

aww looking forward to the pics of the clothes i love lottle doggie clothes n my youngest 2 do aswell lol.

that man sounds horrible. i dont have cats anymore i got ill n had to go to the hospital so my neibour told the council i wasnt well enough to look after them and they made us rehome them :(

i feed the local strays now but whenever i put food out next door sprays the cats with a water hose (yep she is a grown woman too its pathetic.) they are on MY shed roof well away from her garden and she does it over my garden drenching my dogs. she tried having one of my dogs put down too. and as for the strays they only turn up when theyre desperate now poor babies.. i watched killer get thinner and thinner because of her.. hes my fave and if i could id take him in in a second coz he deserves a home.he isnt skinny but he has lost alot of weight..

neibour can be so aweful.. i hope he got in trouble for that tennis ball... but heehee a cat scared of pigeons sound like a right little cuddle pot :)

yeh im sure bindi is over the worse of it.. she was sick twice again the other day but has been fine since so im upping her meals each meal time once their back to their usual size i will start adding less potatoes n chicken n stuff and once thats all gone slowly add biscuits.. shes be all chipper again in no time hopefully :)
