Hi . I suggest in the first instance as you have power everywhere that you do a manual reset with ignition OFF. That will reset the roofs ecu, do a full open and store the roof into the storage bin and lock the lid down with the wheel brace VERY VERY GENTLY,close the boot. Then go thru the whole process in reverse open the boot then releasing the lid GENTLY with the wheel brace pull the lid up/open pull out the roof all the way to where the back will lift up , cose the lid and secure the roof by the screen, now go to boot and lock lid down GENTLY WITH BRACE REMEMBER GENTLY.All this with ignotion OFF or you will be fighting against the ram pressures. Once all that has been done, try it on the switch. Whilst doing all this is a good time to lube all the pivots and joints especially the lid mechanism loads of grease in/on it. Good luck mate.

Hi Gates,

Don't know if you are still out there?

Summer is coming and I hope to try the combinations mentioned on this owners forum. My roof just stopped one day in the cold half way and I had to push it down manually. Have not tried anything yet so have not damaged the lock nut in the boot. Is the process mentioned by several going to work, or is there an easier safer option that wont involve putting the locking nut at risk?

hi there sweb! it works! but, GENTLY is the key word, don't get macho and start cranking anything. you'll be flying down the lanes and highways with your hair blowing in the breeze before you know it. :)

Car is being taxed for the summer this week, so will have a go at doing this sat. Fingers crossed. Yes,i will be very careful. Its just a quarter of a turn yeah? then does the lid just gradually come up hydraulicly?

hi there sweb, not sure of a quarter turn, it's only a wee one anyhow. follow it to the letter, go gently and you will be fine. 1.un clip both locks to roof from inside car & push roof up as if u are going to operate by switch. 2.open boot and by fitting wheel wrench into the hole on the back of the seats you can open roof storage compartment.(turn clockwise)SO YOU CAN SEE THE COMPARTMENT POP OPEN). 3.lift the back window part of roof. 4.now lift storage lid (this easier with 2 people). 5. now u can lift the front of roof and continue to do this so that it all fits back into compartment. 6.now close compartment lid as far as it will go. 7.back in the boot, place wrench back in hole and lock lid by a small turn anti clockwise so you can see it pull close. 8. close and lock the car as normal. 9. now, open car as normal and turn on ignition.
10. operate switch to close roof-this should work ok.
it works....take it from a totally unmechanical female :)

Hi there,
I have a problem with my wifes car. The hood stopped working, this was due to a burst hose on on of the rams. We got that fixed but now when you operate the hood to close it as the last of the roof falls into place it fully closes instead of the front end staying up (the bit you pull down to lock the lid down). This then stops the back of the roof from lifting so the compartment hatch can close. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what's causing it? Is there to much pressure in the hydrulic system now? Help

if you stop pressing hood button, get out of the car and fold the last(first)section of bonnet back to previous position and then press button again it will do it's thing i have found. not sure what causes it but if you clean and 'oil' the joints of the hood it might stop it. i did read that if you open the hood manually and stop it when the hood is in the compartment before the panel shuts it away it gives you greater access to the 'joints'. hope this helps. makes you wonder why we got cabriolets eh? :)

It could be that the roof tensioner straps are perished or rotten (two I think run front to back), this is usually the cause of the front of the roof falling too much before the cycle is complete

I have just had the same problem and under investigation found it to be a sheared drive bolt that goes from the boot compartment to the roof compartment, which is the main roof drive.
The part alone is £400-00

Bummer! You have to wonder where they get the prices from don't you? Hope you sort it all out without too much grief - or pounds. There has to be a better and cheaper way to get our pugs fixed surely? :)
