you might be getting no compression which would mean either you need new piston rings or new piston or a completely new 70kit.

Well the signs are no power, but the only way to know for sure is to tale the cylinder head off and check. The new belt could be the wrong size which could also cause this prob. Fitting new tuning parts however ain't gonna solve it. One thing i learned from probs with scoots is that one problem can be caused by a few different things.

I have same problem with 4 stroke engine. Was doing about 30 and belt snapped nnd jammed i the clutch mechanism.
New belt now gives me no pulling power. (max uphill speed 5mph)
One test is to put the bike on the main stand lift the rear wheel off the ground and see if it accelerates up through the variator mechanism with no road load on the wheel. If it does (and mine does) then I suspect the clutch bearing has gone also. I suspect this was damaged due to the sudden stopping of the clutch.
I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong but the needle bearing in the inner centre of the clutch assy should freely rotate in 1 direction and give "bite" in the other direction. If the bearing has gone then it rotates freely in both directions. Hence you are only getting partial drive from the clutch. This is only my estimation at this stage as I need to replace mine to see if this is the cause. (Item 12 in the picture).

Further clarification - as I now understand it the inner bearing should be free both ways. So next I'm going to check if my clutch plates are glazed - I will rough them up a bit with a rasp to see if I can get better bite.

You get bite in one direction, but this is caused by the piston giving bite due to compression or if your not getting good compression a lack of bite.
