New belt now gives me no pulling power. (max uphill speed 5mph) One test is to put the bike on the main stand lift the rear wheel off the ground and see if it accelerates up through the variator mechanism with no road load on the wheel. If it does (and mine does) then I suspect the clutch bearing has gone also. I suspect this was damaged due to the sudden stopping of the clutch. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong but the needle bearing in the inner centre of the clutch assy should freely rotate in 1 direction and give "bite" in the other direction. If the bearing has gone then it rotates freely in both directions. Hence you are only getting partial drive from the clutch. This is only my estimation at this stage as I need to replace mine to see if this is the cause. (Item 12 in the picture).
