My megane is over-revving, sometimes ticking over at 4000 rpm, can anyone point me in the right direction.

personally id check acc cable ... if ok prob replace throttle position sensor..,,,, u r question a bit sparse,,, what else been happing ,,,,,

Thanks spacepygmy. The revs fluctuate, even to the point that the car will drive itself drown the street without touching the throttle. Don't think the cable is sticking because if you put your foot under the pedal and lift it up, no change.

yeah id check throttle position sensor,,, might be buggered,,, also if u take off air intake and check that plate is moving freely.....might be of help.....get back anyway ,,,,,

Clutch ok mate, where can i find the throttle sensor please, and is it servicable or replacement only?

it should be on the opposite side of where the accellorator cable pulls at throttle head (engine) ... it should unscrew,,, better to replace...,,,

not sure about megane but could poss be another sensor ,,mabey heat sensor ,,,,, anyone else help?

could try air temp sensor on inlet manifold,maybe giving ecu wrong reading and ecu trying to compensate ie fluctuating revs

also check for vacuum pipe air leak revs shouldnt fluctuate that badly
