Our mechanic was instructed to replace the rocket cover on our vauxhall astra sxi due to oil and suction problems. He has been advised by Vauxhall as this is a common problem amongst all sxi models. Our mechanic opened the packaged part and blew through the outlet and said that it was doing the exact same thing as the original part (letting air through). He is not prepared to fit the part and he wants to investigate further - my theory is that the diaphragm will not operate properly until the rocket cover is actually installed. Would I be correct in this assumption? It also adds to the theory put by vauxhall who said that this was the likely problem and they are inundated with similar orders (we had to wait a week for this part).
