My 1600 45s abs keeps coming on at low speeds and is a pain In the A$$, even when not braking.
I can't afford to have It looked at yet so I've removed the fuse. The rover hand book says faulty abs will not affect ordinary braking, I know they would not recommend doing this but apart from abs being disabled I'm thinking It won't do any harm, or will It.

any comments greatly appreciated.

You can disable the ABS but it is not recommended. If it`s just temporary
for a week it should be ok until you get it fixed, just means you won`t
have the same stopping power if you get into a tricky situation so keep
the speed down and don`t drive up the backside of the car in front.
The brakes will work the same but locking the wheels on hard braking
will be much easier.

Just an afterthought about the abs. The warning light never came on until I removed the fuse, could this point to the sensor getting a false reading rather than being faulty, I've been reading about the air gap between the sensor and the ring on the drive shaft.

Thanks Dave

The sensor does have a hard life due to its position and gets wet and dirty
as does the reluctor ring where the sensor picks up the reading from.
It might just be a dirt problem but you never can tell.

Could be that the ecu picked up the fact that you removed the fuse & has recorded a fault. Put the fuse back in & have the ecu reset.

Check your driveshaft reluctor rings for corrosion or breaks !
