Powermax 155 Boiler Help

Has anyone got a Powermax 155 or simuliar boiler fitted?
What I want to know is, should hotwater come out of the hot water taps and the boiler fires up and turn off when taps turned off or does it rely on the water being heated up in its internal storage tank? The problem I have is that the boiler keeps firing up all the time, mainting the internal water hot, 24hrs a day even though the central heating isnt on. Cost a fortune in gas bills!
