It is probable wonting to update your operating system in windows, if you say install it should say what it wonts to update. If it is PS2 let it update it, there is a PS3 coming out soon as well. Most updates from windows is ok to do. Well saying that I my self have had no bother. You can read about windows updates in windows help if you wont to...

Thanks Carlos, it just keeps restarting windows xp, there are no icons or crosses to click off. There is a new newcastle site that helps people with pc problems. (I will write it down then tell you the address, you can buy parts cheaply to)they are trying to help me too. I have copied the exact errors, I`m going to try to send the file to you. I am just new to this, so fingers crossed. Here goes. Than you Carrrie x

Hello. I don't know the details of this case, but if it is of any help XP can run on FAT32. This is decided by the installation disc if it detects that the drive is too small. This happened when I installed XP on a W98 computer with a 20GB drive.

If you manage to get by the splash screen then press 'start' 'run' then type 'cmd' then press 'ok' type in the cmd window 'chkdsk c: /f' then press enter. You will need to restart your computer.
If you still have problems after this stage then you will have to use Recovery Console, its in your xp disc so you can repair the MBR on your pc.
Don't however just put the xp disc in & attempt a repair as this will cause you problems as it changes all the SID's so some important files will no longer be accessible.
