new to the board, first post, i have an omega 2.5cdx td, i have bought a leather interior from an elite but the seats are the older type and mine is the later (before the facelift), the wiring on the plugs dont match up at all, do any of you know if the wiring loom was different on the elites or were all the wires in the car but left for extras??? chris...
I hope this bit of info helps, I have new shape 2.5td cdx estate, under the rear seat there is all the electrical connectors ready for the heated rear seats, this was an option, if this was specified when the car was new it was called the Electric Pack, an option on the cd & cdx, standard on the elite, this opton pack also consisted of self dipping rear view mirror, 3 position memory front seats/mirrors. (You may also require switches for the rear seats prehaps relays and fuses to make the loom work). teaser
All this to fit and also got the leather interior to fit and the alloy interior aswell, think im gonna be busy??
hope this makes sense and it is correct? chris...
Service interval on the 1999 3.8ltr I owned was 10,000km, which seemed a lot. Reliability was faultless. Car was very smooth and made a much better family car than an MPV or SUV. Depreciation was high. I was suprised the car has a bad reputation in UK. I 'd say it's been my favorite and most missed car in 25yrs of driving. The Aussies even race them! http://www.v8supercar.com.au/ Ron
let me know how you get on chipping it i'm on the verge myself, with either tunit or van aiken.

Thanks for info, like you i've been thinking of it for 2 yrs now. Did you fit it yourself & have you a k&N?, this makes the breathing better. Like you I also tow, last august it was doing 27mpg towing my Amara on a return trip to Spain. I can't complain at that but i know it will improve if i fitted it. I know this engine is de-tuned alot and the bhp is well below that of the 3/5 series it was fitted in, never mind the all important tq figure, so the challenge is to fit one and pull the A frame of the Caravan! Cheers Teaser
I fitted the tunnit my self but you need to remove inlet manifold to get at it properly (bit fiddly). Every thing else left as standard re air intake. Exhaust front pipe I modified by chopping out the cat and made up a new pipe from a 2.5 diesel transit tail pipe so it slides over orig pipe and clamped and the rear part is the flanged 2 bolt orig fitting (cut bent and welded to suite) and made a additional steady bracket with a bennelli clamp to the autobox mounting. I tow a Lunar Delta 560 HL and now it has no problem staying in 4th lockup at 60mph on motorway (apart from on hills). Have you any details re the K&N regards Les
New to this chat and new to the omega, we recently purchased a 2.6i 2001 (x reg )and basically wondered if you could give us some tips. 1. its last service was about 32k and it is now at 50k, is the timing belt ready for replacement? 2. it seems difficult to locate the spark plugs are they difficult to change? How reliable and how many miles should be expected of the 2.6. Hope you can advise. Thanks
I've just got 2 P reg 2.0 GLS Omegas 1 at 77k and 1 at 128k. There was some tappet noise on the higher milage one so I did myself an oil change using vauxhall oil and filter. Use a good engine flush then due to the milage put in 15w 40 with Slick 50. The engine now purrs like a kitten. The Vauxhall Oil and Filter is cheaper than Castrol Oil alone cheers Paul
Any guesses to how much a cambelt will cost if vauxhall do it?
WHAT IS A TUNIT U HAVE HAD FITTED 2 YOUR AUTO. COULD DO WITH 1 ON MY 2.5TD AS RUN IT AS A TAXI, IT ALWAYS CHANGES DOWN 2 QUICK ON HILLS , AND TAKES 2 LONG CHANEGING UP THUS FUEL IS DISSAPEARING, ENGINE OVER REVING.
you will find all details and price at, http://www.tunit.co.uk/III.php I found no need for a heavy boot on pedal after i tuned it in to the engine. Les
