Did you get an answer to your query re outside temperature sensors? I have the same problem. Roy
I have asked a couple of times before so forgive the repetition but I am going out of my mind with this one! I have a 1999 3.0 litre MV6 Estate Auto with which I am very happy but for one problem which is now getting worse. It idles comfortably at about 500 rpm but will suddenly shoot up to 1500 or even 2000 rpm by itself. It will then stay at these revs for anything up to 10 minutes. Occasionally the engine management light will flash briefly before the increase in revs but not always. Main agent has had it on diagnostic equipment with no success. I was told that it could be the idle control valve which I duly replaced but with no effect. Could it be a faulty ECU?(they are an arm and a leg so I do not want to spend out on one needlessly). Could it be camshaft or crankcase sensors perhaps - is replacement a costly job? It is happening every day now and in icy weather it is bloody dangerous. Has Spencer or any other Omega experts out there any ideas? Am I the only one to have this problem or are there fellow sufferers? I am really desperate and any suggestions are welcome.

I have a 96 with BMW lump. The Horn has stopped workn. The fuse is Ok, the relay 'clicks'. Where is or are the horns located? Ian
chris..
What on earth is going on with my Omega? As I am drivng the ABS warning light comes on and goes off without any sort of pattern also the Airbag warning light does the same thing. It seems as though they come on independantly to one another. Now, and this is the strange thing, if I turn the fan on the lights go off, only to come on again haphazardly. Does anyone have any ideas ? If this pattern carries on, I cant wait to hear the horn when I open the fuel flap !!!! Kindest Regards M Adverts Currently On Preloved - Place an ad here for free
this caused a similar thing on my old Carlton!! Mike (Walsall)
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/omega_owners/ Loads of Omega buffs on this site who are all very knowlegable and very helpful. There is even a "Dr Omega" who lives and breathes the model and knows it inside out. Well worth a try as when I had a rev problem with my MV6 it was correctly diagnosed immediately as a faulty temperature sensor to the fuel injection whereas my main dealer had previously not had a clue - despite having all the right diagnostic equipment. Good luck!
You should get the UJ's on the prop checked and a quick look to see if one of the welded balance weights has come off, if the fault is only at one speed and not related to engine speed then the prop is the most likely cause as itÂ’s the only thing that's constant relative to road speed.
My 2.5 Diesel Auto has average 33-34 mpg since I got it 18 months ago. are there any suggestions for improving this without the expense of a Tunit type add on? Ian
