Hi Pitchfork, I have a 2.5 td the best I have ever had is 32mpg, during our cold spell it fell to 26 4mpg.
If you find out how to improve the mpg please let me know

Something wrong there, I got a V6 petrol saloon that gives me an average of over 27 mpg, admittedly it's mostly used around rural Ireland, but I don't drive it like a saint.

However I do have a major problem (apart from not knowing how to start a new thread on this site being a newby an all) anyway.... I left my car parked at a friend's gaff whilst on holiday for 5 weeks in Jan/Feb, the battery went flat and I had left the deadlocks on.... ERGO I'm locked out the bloody thing, can't open the doors, bonnet etc & can only get into the boot...any ideas?

hi there, simply use your key in the drivers door, that unlocks the deadlocks on the drivers door but wont open the others as there is no power to open the motors..

Yeh thanks, I tried that last week - no joy.

The handbook says that you can only open the deadlocks with the central locking.

Use jump leads and another car/battery to at least get the central locking working (don't try jump starting the car at the same time as it can knacker modern electronics) - you'll still have to do it by key as your remote control probably needs re-setting.

yeh at the moment that's option 2 as I'll probably have to get a connection to the +ve side of the battery via the starter solenoid as I can't get the bonnet open

Just purchased a 1998 2.0 Omega est - dead battery, air bag light on - does this need to be re set after fitting new battery?

Also has any one got an owners hand book as the vehicle is without one?

The flexible section on the exhaust has blown, but the rest is perfect, any way of repairing this it

HI THERE THE BROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING IS THE REV CONTROL UNIT.....WHAT HAPPEN IS INSIDE THE UNIT THERE IS A SHAFT THAT PUSHES BACK AND FOURTH AND IT STICKING. I USED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY VECTRA, INSTEAD YOU GO AND PAY A ARM AND A LEG TO GET IT FIX, THIS IS HOW YOU GET THE PROBLEM AWAY,

WHAT YOU NEED

1 GET SOME WD 40
2 GET SOME CARB CLEANER
3 GET SOME TIME ABOUT 30 MIN
4 GET SOME TOOLS

TAKE OFF THE REV CONTROL UNIT AND SPRAY SOME CARB CLEANER INSIDE IT ENOUGH TO WASH IT AND COVER THE HOLES SO THAT WHILE YOU SHAKING IT IT WOUN'T SPILL. DO THIS ABOUT THREE TO FOUR TIMES TO GET ALL THE MUCK OUT OF IT......EACH TIME YOU DRAIN THE CARB CLEANER OUT IT SHOULT BE VERY BLACK KEEP DOIND IT UNTIL IT GET CLEAN, AT THE SAME TIME YOU MIGHT SHAKE IT AND HEAR IT MAKE A CLICKING SOUND DON'T WORRY IT MEANS THAT THE UNIT IN NOT STICKING ANY MORE........THEN DRAIN IT OUT PROPERLY AFTER DOING SO THE NEXT STEP IS TO SPRAY SOME WD 40 IN IT COVER THE HOLES AND SHAKE IT WELL DI THIS ABOUT TWO TIME THEN DRAIN IT OUT, THE WD 40 WILL ACT AS OIL TO KEEP IT LUBRICATE THEN REFIT AND RUN IT FOR A WHILE THAT SHOULD STOP THE PROBLEM YOURE HAVING.......IT WORK FOR ME I HOPE IT WORK FOR YOU... SHEERS

I have a problem in my 1997 2.5 CDX OMEGA with the climate control. About a year ago a fuse went and put much of the instrumentation in the dash out of commission. When I replaced the fuse everything began working again bar the climate control system. The fan still works and both the temperature controls dials light up but I am now unable to turn the temperature up or down nor can I direct the flow of the air to the various outlets. Unfortunately it is stuck at full heat. Does anyone know if there are any relays or fuses controlling the system other than the fuse in the fuse box below the steering wheel? Thanks

I thought that the service (oil change) interval for the 2.5 BMW engine was 5K miles. I use fully synthetic oil which costs more, but allows me to push the service interval to 10K miles

I have just got a 96 Omega GLS 2.0 auto estate, with 70k genuine miles on clock, FSH etc. and am quite pleased with it, apart from the headlights. I have managed to obtain a pair of Xenon headlights to fit from a car being broken up. They fit but the electrical connections have additional wires. Does anyone have any experience of completing this upgrade? Anything that would save me time and benefit from your experience would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation.

If it assists - I have a 3.0 manual, my experience is of a very smooth and positive feel. No 'notchyness', gear transistion is fautless.

I have just bought an accident damaged 99 2.5 Elite and it has the CCRT700. To get round ther problem you mention I just bought a pay as yuo go sim card. I left it in the large sim card holder and this solved the problem. As I have a monthly contract phone, I divert the calls to the pay as you go one when I'm driving. Hope this helps?

am new online and you are the 'Sado'? Well you seem to know the Vaux's and thats what I need. Had a 97 2,5 CDX auto, and loved it, changing to a 2.5 CDX manual 99with 46000 genuine on clock. Auto had rocker cover trouble at about 100K and changed cambelt at 6000 otherwise great, EXCEPT rear suspension went down about 4inches. You mentioned 98 suspension change. Did this resolve that prob? Also any other improvements? What cambelt change mileage do you sugges, although ser/handbk shows changedd at 40k. Would be grateful for any items to watch out for andgood points. What like is the manual box? Consumption?
Thanks
