Hi I had the same problem with my M reg Estate. Had the idler control sensor replaced twice still the same fault. Technician eventually found there was a brake in the wiring from the sensor to the management control unit. 1 hours labour and they replaced the wire and great now. Hope this helps

Have a 98 2.5td BMW power omega with a little over 100k. lately there had been a knoocking in the engine and I had planned to get it checked out. However it stopped on the road a few days ago and after being firstly towed to the garage and checked out it was discovered that one of the goudgem pins came loos and broke. The cilinder was consiquently damaged and the seals came out in the oil from the sump. Does any body know if this is a fault with diesel omegas? apparently it was a fault with some of the old BMW diesel. Is rebuilding the engine the best opion or should I try and buy a new headblock for the engine?

Hi chrisI hope this bit of info helps, I have new shape 2.5td cdx estate, under the rear seat there is all the electrical connectors ready for the heated rear seats, this was an option, if this was specified when the car was new it was called the Electric Pack, an option on the cd & cdx, standard on the elite, this opton pack also consisted of self dipping rear view mirror, 3 position memory front seats/mirrors. (You may also require switches for the rear seats prehaps relays and fuses to make the loom work). Good luck ! teaser

Thanks for that, all info is welcome!!, i have so much to do to the cdx, i have irmscher front and rear bumpers to fit, stienmetz sills, stienmetz roof tip spoiler, facelift side mouldings and mirrors, irmscher full suspension kit, i had a duel exit stainless steel exhaust made last week by powerflow to go with the rear bumper, also got the p-box power chip that is used on the bmws and range rovers and believe me this rely does the trick, i am on my third omega the others were V6s( 2.5V6 elite and 3.0V6 MV6), i think the diesel has the same poke as the 2.5V6 with the chip and exhaust, All this to fit and also got the leather interior to fit and the alloy interior aswell, think im gonna be busy??

I had this problem years ago (or at least it sounds similar) on my cavalier 2.5V6 it did all the things that you are telling me about, i had the camshaft sensers replaced and it was fine, but the omega may be somthing very different as it has a hell of a lot more ecu,s , if the camshaft senser breaks it wont be able to detect what speed the cams are going hence the irratic idling?? hope this makes sense and it is correct? chris...

Owned an estate version while living in Australia. There it's called a Holden Commodore, and are very very common. Engines there are 90% 3.8ltr V6's the rest being 5.8ltr V8's. All auto's. The finish spec is much lower than UK. Plastic hub-caps, no sun roofs, even electric windows would be a luxury. Definately no leather seats.Service interval on the 1999 3.8ltr I owned was 10,000km, which seemed a lot. Reliability was faultless. Car was very smooth and made a much better family car than an MPV or SUV. Depreciation was high. I was suprised the car has a bad reputation in UK. I 'd say it's been my favorite and most missed car in 25yrs of driving. The Aussies even race them! http://www.v8supercar.com.au/ Ron

I can recomend the tunit, I found it easy to setup to balance the power / ecconomy. I was very suprised at the increase in power, it seemed to work well with the auto box i.e. change up quicker with less throttle, will hold the lockup 4th longer on hills. Its been on for 9 months now, I wish i'd fit it 3 years since, the fuel ecconomy is up by between 12 > 15%. I tow a caravan and the ecconomy in towing is even better at around 17%.

Hi Les Thanks for info, like you i've been thinking of it for 2 yrs now. Did you fit it yourself & have you a k&N?, this makes the breathing better. Like you I also tow, last august it was doing 27mpg towing my Amara on a return trip to Spain. I can't complain at that but i know it will improve if i fitted it. I know this engine is de-tuned alot and the bhp is well below that of the 3/5 series it was fitted in, never mind the all important tq figure, so the challenge is to fit one and pull the A frame of the Caravan! Cheers Teaser

I can't help you with stereo, but the headlight tail light I have had before, and seem to have aquired again. I had it fixed when the car was in for a full service and the problem was one of the tail lights. I was convinced that there was no problems at all as well. The problem was the tail lights all have dual filliments inside the bulbs, only one of the filliments was blown in one of the bulbs. Seems I've got the same problem today. Time to buy some more bulbs and start looking for the duff bulb.
