Hi
I have a 93 Scorpio estate 3 litre auto 25mpg 27 on run. They are tough, My second one, though its only done 83000 with FSH. I have found problems with the 4 gear on auto's. If you find one that wont go into four. They have a cable drive to the gauge and electronic sensor on the box for the electronics, These do not seem to last long, They are on the rh side of box easy to get at one bolt. Symptons no fourth gear no cruise control and no reading from fuel computer.

For Spencer.

I'm new to this forum and have just bought a 97 2.5 v6 auto saloon. Are CD changers standard on this model and if so where are they located? Also I have located a couple of leads loose in the boot. One is a coaxial with a right angle conector the other looks as if its model manufactrer specific. Any ideas.

Thanks

I read a posted message, someone was undicided about an Omega verses a Scorpoi estate.
I was just offering some advice that it had cost me some money to-get. Sorry it was lost on you though!

Hello Again.

I have a 95 2.5 CD. A few years back the rectifier went on the alternator, since it was replaced it has been impossible to cancel anything on the computer i.e. you can't reset the trip mpg or stopwatch or anything, any ideas?

Bought the 99 CDX 2.5 petrol saloon, that i was asking info on.
Discovered it has a built-in phone, great, but no Sim Card.
How do i get one? or, anybody got one they do'n't want?

Also, one day later, desolate, the Coil failed leaving it dead on my drive. Dealer's mechanic arrived within 45 mins and advised me of this and accepts full cover applies. Is this a common fault?
Appreciate any info

My 99 CDX. Further to info on car not starting. It was NOT the coil pack. they tried replacing that, no joy, then found it was a dead crankcase sensor, changed that and now OK, luckily under guarantee!!

PLEASE HELP NEEDED !!!! I bought my first Omega v6 3 months ago as a weeked car as I have a works van at my disposal. On the way home from a trip to the east coast I dropped from 5th gear to 4th in some build up of traffic, no problems, then when it started clearing I depressed the clutch placed it into 5th gear and nothing, was just like i had no gears. Managed to roll 1/2 mile to the next exit off the M62, pulled in, popped the bonnet, looked at it miffed, put bonnet down and rang a mechanically minded freind, he said check cable etc, he then said start the car and sort of flick the clutch pedal,. Well upon starting the car it jolted forward, I was very confused, depressed the clutch and nothing, no clutch this time !!! Managed to nurse the car home without a clutch. Now we have no Idea what is the problem, ive been told to top up the gearbox with oil, someone else says its a common fault and i need to have it bled up.
If anyone has had or knows of this problem then Please drop me a line, or if anyone wants to buy/swop Id take £550 for the car. M reg 2.5 petrol gls in dark green or swap for a similar aged 1.7TD astra estate, which i had before this. Id love to keep it as its really my first 'luxury' car as to speak but love the Astra's so im open to either. Thank You for reading and Thank You in advance for any advice. Cheers Dave.

1) You do need the credit card sized sim card (holding the mini insert). I
got round it by buying a spare sim card, but this means a second mobile
number. Some providers offer two cards on one number.
2) Reference Sim card, this is only hearsay, but I have been told that one
or more contract providers allow two sim cards on one number, (not pay as
you go). Hope this is true, but I have no problem having the two numbers on
pay as you go. I don't know if you can swap the radios over, Vauxhall should
know.
3) i have a 1998 S reg Vauxhall Omega 2.5V6 CDX Estate, sorry to appear
thick, but how do i put my simcard in the stereo? so that i can use the
inbuilt phone system in the car, its the same model of stereo u have, i can
seel a little slit at the bottom in the middle of the stereo, but i dont
want to push the sim cad right in incase i`m doing it wrong.. gotta phone O2
aswell today, to see if they will let me have 2 simcards on same number
4) Ok, on the CCRT700, the small block with the two arrows at each end is
removed by pressing the small button next to the word 'code' in red. With
the block removed, the credit card sized sim adapter slides in at the
bottom. I think the unit only works with BT or Vodaphone, (O2 I think is
BT). Good luck with that.
5) sorry, I'm not an expert on sim cards or phones. check your local town
high street, and look for an independent operator selling second hand phones
etc. We have one who is brilliant, and is v. helpful, next time I'm in town
I'll ask about your problem.
6) CJ is quite right about how to locate card insertion area.
I am positive that this model only supports 1800Mhz phones (Vodaphone etc. -
definately NOT Orange).
Question for CJ - I got your reply but it was not clear to me what you
meant. I am on a 'pay as you go' and apparently my provider does not sell a
SIM card with the same no.
If one is on any form of contract - you can pay an additional fee monthly
for an extra SIM. THis is silly in my case as I only ever want to use EITHER
one card or the other. I guess at the risk of appearing a 'scammy git' - my
question would be 'can SIM's be cloned' - as I guess this is what I want.
I definatelt DO NOT want an additional 'pay as you go' SIM, as this would be
a different no., and I wouldn't want the hassle of putting my usual phone on
divert every time I drive the bloody car!!.
7) My MV6 estate has this unit. When I purchased the car it had a special
credit card sized receiver for the sim card which I guess you can buy as an
accessory from any Vauxhall dealer. My mobile is on contract (Vodafone) and
they were quite happy to issue a duplicate sim for the same number. However
I have a cross band tariff (it more than halves the phone charges) and for
some obscure technical reason it is impossible to have a dual sim card on
this type of tariff. After a bit of practice it is quite easy to swop the
sim back and forth but with my memory I always seem to find that the card is
in the car when I am not and vice versa! Not much help I know but at least
you are not alone!
8) I've got one of those 'CCRT700's' as well.
Can someone put me out of my misery and tell me how (OR IF)I can use without
creating some form of temporary SIM card holder every time I want to use it,
as I do because the clarity is superb compared to any headsets.

I have a 1999 Omega 2.5TD estate (new shape). Very nice car apart from the two following issues. Firstly, I have a drone from the dashboard when idling. I initially thought this was from a heat shield or something in the engine compartment, but it’s definitely a drone from a resonating component in the dashboard. As soon as the revs increase to about 800-900 the drone completely disappears. I’ve had the car into our local Vauxhall dealer who offered to take the dash apart to see if they could find the problem but the cost was huge with no guarantee they would solve the problem. It has since become apparent the engine idles quite rough and I thought this might be the reason. If you hold the revs at about 700-800 the engine starts to wobble on it’s blocks and feels very unbalanced, but smoothes out past 900. A further garage has tried to smooth out the engine with no effect. He’s thinks all these engines run very rough as they’re diesels but I disagree – a BMW garage has told me the engine is very smooth indeed. This garage now thinks the drone is coming from a worn exhaust system but I can’t justify replacing the entire system on just a hunch. Has anyone got any ideas? Secondly, I have started to get lots of water in the passenger side of the car when it rains hard. The rain is coming in through the heater vents in the foot well so I assume water is getting into the heating system air vents somehow, any ideas?

John

Hi
I have a 2001 2.2 cdx estate that has 42k on the clock. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to change the cambelt in the South London/Kent area and how much it should cost?
Cheers

Hi all,
I,m a Vauxhall virgin. Said I would never have a Vauxhall. Said I would never have an automatic. Said I would never have a diesel. You can imagine how I surprised myself when I went and bought an Omega 2.5TD CDX (the one with the BMW diesel engine about 4 months ago. Must be my age or something!
I had no idea you were all so nuts about them! I know of VW nuts (have a Karmann cabrio beetle) but Vauxhalls!!?
Anyway, great car BUT I have a few faults with mine. M Reg. 166K miles Auto box. Have had the car about 4 months now and Auto box failed on me last week. It's in the garage as I write this.
Really enjoy the drive but the likely cost (£1250) is taking the edge off a bit!
I was worried about the consumption I was getting (no, not the disease, the diesel consumption) but seems that mine is about average from the messages I have read.
Heater only works to demist, no hot air to feet! Still, summer's nearly with us.
Have not been able to get the cruise control working.
Bought it from a garage (NOT Vauxhall dealer) and feel that I was a bit laid back on checking things out (still reeling from the loss of my 2.3l injection Volvo 240GLT that day! what a car that was, 260,000miles on petrol engine AND it's back on the road and for sale at £495!)
Still - prefer the comfort and drive of the Omega (and much prefer it to the new VW Passat estate I've had as a hire car).
Hope time will heal the present wound and the car will not let me down too often in the future.
Must get back to work to pay for the 'box.
No doubt will be joining the discussions in future.
Best wishes to all who read this

I have a 99 2.5 td and average about 36mpg in mixed driving and on the few long runs it has been on it climbs to 45-46. I do try to get as much as possible out of it and drive as economically as possible.

Hi John
I have new shape 2.5td cdx estate, like you i had similar drone from dash area, on mine i found it was the exhaust baffle resonating, i could isolate mine by having engine on idle, leaning under car with a rag in my hand ,(because the heat) slightly lift the exhaust and it dissapeared, i put a new vaux pipe on and its solved the problem, i can now hear the nice 6 cyl note!, my pipe needed changing anyway its time was up, easy job 1 hr, mine has also once done this wabble just above idle, it feels like its trying to work its way out the bonnet!, dont know myself anymore yet, its the phrase "if it a'nt broke don't fix it!!" good luck.

Sorry to you other guys with poor economy mine is still doing 27 mpg towing my 1.5 ton van, 33 round town and high 40's on a run. try simple things first, clean air filter?, fuel filter?, i do use redex all the time to try and keep injectors top dog.

I have an Omega Estate 2.5 CDX auto. The sunshine has taken over its own control and quite often opens of its own accord. I suspect that the contacts in the roof control unit might be a bit dicky/dirty. Has anyone experienced this problem and any ideas how to cure it/
