Yep - the internal battery contacts at the solder pad fracture, or on the solder pad itself. due to the repeated movement as a result of use.
My solution - fold up some paper to go behind the battery to give it more support.
End of problem.

I think they mean push the button on the key fob, Try it with ignition off & on, can't do any harm.

Brian, post 22/4
ref cambelt change on your 2.2 cdx if its petrol i would change belt soon for peace of mind, if i remember book says 60k ish get pulleys changed aswell as these go round a few times and are often neglected it was an extra £28 for mine, my local dealer gets high milage 2.5/3.0 with snapped belts, the damage being caused by worn pulley bearings.
Alll the best

Hi Ade $ - not sure if you have resolved the CD item - I do have a Philips DC012 for sale if you are interested.
Has a mounting bracket and all cable from back of unit to back of radio - I had installed in a Peugeot because also had a Philips head unit so was matched. Cable also included all the remote links so that change / ffward etc all worked from the steering wheel - understand that the key link is via the radio unit though.
Expect bracket will not be 100% but cable could be OK.

I have recently purchased a 1997/1998 Opel Omega Estate in France - 2.5 TD (BMW) It seems a good car, high mileage/KM, but 3 month full guarantee from the garage. The engine runs well, but very noisy on acceleration (turbo?) and quite a lot of clunking and clonking from front suspension. Gear box very smooth, but fussy changes at the slightest acceraltor pressure. Any comments before it goes back for guarantee work at the garage?

I should ask this question on the yahoo omega forum. There is a good Knowledge base there.

Hi Mike

Ref brians comment ref cambelt change, its not mentioned if the car is petrol or diesel, but what i can say,(as i mentioned in my reccomendation to change it if he does not know if its been done)is that a 2001 PETROL 2.2 does have a belt, both my dads 2001 2.2 petrol, and my previous petrol omega both had their belts changed c/w pulleys iaw Vauxhall instructions. i know newer engines have chains, but to ignore this and assume its chain driven could be costly!

Most common cause of coolant loss is the mastic seal around the oil cooler failing. The oil cooler sits in the coolant channel between the two heads and under the inlet manifold. The sealant costs around 2p and the labour around £200.

Re your cooling problem - can you give an idea of where the coolant is leaking from? Do you get a puddle under the car, and if so approximately where does the puddle occur?

Hi,
I'm sure you have all possibly had enough of us 2.5 td hot starting problems people, but as I would like to solve the problem on my car wondered if anyone could tell me how to go about finding out the cause and fixing it. I have noticed that someone had exactly the same problem as I am experiencing. It sometimes cuts out at at traffic lights and roundabouts, and won't start very easily when the engine is hot. Basically I just keep the starter motor turning for about 30-60 seconds and it will eventually fire up.
I have seen that there can be problems with the fuel temperature sensor etc. And saw that you can check these with tepid water. Is it possible for someone to tell me where to get to the sensor/s, and how to carry out the test.

Thanks

i believe its temp sense in pump. it gives no diesel when hot . u need to trick it. or pay some crowd in doncaster to fit a dongle. cost £1-200 i think but wont post it , they insist on fitting it . I couldn't be bothered. fare and wasted day more than car worth.

Which pump mate, is it the tank fuel pump or the Fuel injector pump. I have had the car tested and no fault found, I even had them check the Fuel injection pump, and that showed the fuel teperature working ok. I have also had info suggesting air in the system and even the main ECU. Anymore info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks John

High pressure injection pump. Pour gallon of water over back of pump, will prob start then. I believe the sensor can be changed on the pump but it looks v difficult.
My eml used to blink when i took my foot of the throttle, but would just go out unless u hit the throttle too soon then limp home mode. If the light stays on i think code is fuel out of range.
Filling with petrol really exascerbates the problem. I did it twice filling up while dreaming of wakeboarding (thought it was boat).

I recently let a colleage (who is supposed to be a bit keen on motors) do an oil change on my v6 2.5 omega. He found a very slight oil weep from the offside cam cover (which I was aware of), and decided to "torque down" the two covers. All well and good, but I now have substantial leaks from both covers. Any thoughts?

Not uncommon apparently.
I think that there are either two types, or at some point the valve cover may have been modified as well. There is a 'kit' which has some other seals as well.
Check with a dealer they should know for sure, but rest assured the leak isn't rare.

Hi Neil,
you need to get an auto electrician to check out your alternator, when the diode packs in it allows the current to pass both ways (draining battery over night) through the alternator instead of just one way, but it will still charge ok when running.
