Check the solder contact - or the actual 'leg' of the battery contact on the pcb.
All my Vauxhall fobs have broken here - changing the battery can give the illusion of curing.
They break because the battery has enough space to move slightly, I think I just placed a folded wedge of paper between battery & housing when reassembling to prevent future movement and reoccurance.
Still using original batteries after five years!

Hi Rich, Have a look at Landrover info, I heard you can get most info off the web. They use the same BMW 2.5TD diesel engine.

Using the key in th elock will obviously verify if the actual locking mechanisms function OK, but regarding the fob - the most important thing was to check that the solder contact for the contact plate leg, that wraps around the battery back has not fractured.

Does anyone have or know where I can obtain the wiring from the radio Head unit to a Philips DC012 6 CD autochanger?
Does this particular autochanger fit behind the panel on the nearside in the luggage area or is there a modified glovebox available?
I have seen references to 4 screws holding the glovebox in, I can find 2, where are the others?

I have sucessfully completed replacing the water pump and drive belt please contact me if you have a similar problem.
As a manual for the 2.5 Turbo Deisel is nonexistent maybe
a collection of useful tips ought to be put together.

I have just bought a Omega and the radio display is not working correctly. Has anyone tried to change this out and is this a massive job and finally does anyone have a display unit to sell.

HI WILLIE...i did mine without too much trouble..haynes say you have to take the airbag and steering wheel off ,but you donthave to. you take the steering colum covers off (i think its three screws in the base)
then you turn the steering wheel . this gives you access to the screw holding the clocks in place .follow the rest of the haynes instructions.and you should be ok . (the whole clock display can be moved sideways ie toward the passenger seat)
as you move it sideways you can get your hand in the back and disconnect the plug in the back on the radio/clock display.
all the other connections are the push in circuit board type.before you start its worth noting any bulbs that dont work.in the whole display as its the same proceedure to change them.

Thanks for that. I will be doing it this weekend and I think I will replace all the bulbs just in case.

Les.
Thanks for advice on front suspension knock.
Replaced both lower wishbones. Old rubber bushes showed some wear (rubber starting to split and seperate from metal sleeve) but i didn't think this could be the source of the problem. Well it was... New front wisbones and she's like new. No longer have to slow to standstill for speed bumps etc.
Paid £75 for two wishbones complete. Is this a good price??

again many thanks for advice

crispy

Hi Crispy.
It looks agood price now, like I said before I fit low cost (non gen)lower wishbones, but after only 12 to 18 months (only 9 months for n/s ball joint) I ended up removing the bushes and fitting genuine (only the front) bushes at about £20 @ but I now expect 80k miles out of them instead of maybe the 20k the after market ones gave me.
Hope you have more luck
Les

Hi I had this problem on a golf gti I drove, I replaced the head gasket only to find it still mixed the oil with the water, before any serious work is done on the head get your radiator presure tested, this will show you if you have a cracked heat exchanger within the radiator, I wouldnt fancy changing the head gasket on a v6. the heat exchanger is a oil cooler within the radiator.

i too had this problem last month on my 2.6 v6!
oil in expansion tank and around the rocker cover oil filler was heavily contaminated with water.
it turned out to be the oil cooler situated between the cylinder heads leaking .
new cooler solved the problem, easier and cheaper than a head gasket though!
