Hi Eliteman Hope this helps i had the same in my previous omega estate cdx (without car phone & sat nav) and a carlton estate on both occasions it turned out to be the booster located in the ariel base, it may be this, (same symptoms) allow approx 1 hr remove centre rear roof lining trim and carefully lower lining to expose locknut, and electrical connections, after removing a layer of skin, job done!, and as the haynes manual says to all its jobs, put back in reverse order! cheers Ian

The Rev and other hot start diesel owners:I drive a 2,5V6 but have limited knowledge of diesels. The normal reason for none starting a warm diesel assuming engine in good condition (correctly timed, good compression, and head condition) is faulty fuel shut off valve, air ingress, fouled injectors, blocked filter(s) or pump(s). The fuel shut off solenoid is controlled by ignition and the immobiliser!! plays it's part. This can be checked fairly easily by ensuring there is 12V at terminal while cranking. Pump problems are more complex but air leaks in fuel lines, blocked filters and clogged pump internals can all contribute. Try some pump/injector cleaner in the fuel concentrate with 1/4 tank only and road run it from cold start for a good time at reasonable revs (dont let it overheat). Not sure of the dealer diagnostics, find out if non start is fault coded in ECU?? That's about all I can offer ... crispy

We have recently purchased an S reg Vauxhall Omega Elite estate and have a quick question ...... should these cars have a warning buzzer to alert you to the lights being left on when the door is opened? Ours doesn't have one, which I find strange on a car with this level of specification, and I'm not sure if it may be a fault. (Can you tell that I left the lights on today and ended up with a flat battery!!!!)Thanks

Battery Light On! Before I did anything else, I'd disconnect the alternator. Sounds like the diodes in the rectifier have gone. Gotta be worth a try cause them's the symptoms. Failing that it's a bigger task. I'd be surprised if it's not though..Dave Safety Warning: Disconnect the battery while doing the job, insulate the alternator wires before reconnecting to test..

Oooops! Your buzzer must be faulty, the lesser trimmed Omega's even have this facility because of the parking light arrangment, i.e. push the indicator stalk to the left - near side lights on only etc!Not sure at present where the buzzer is located, other than somewhere to the rear of the headlight switch --- SOMEWHERE. Hope that helps Dave

Hi. I recently bought an Omega 2.5 V6 Auto, 2000. The car was running great up until last week when i went to start it and she wouldn't! R.A.C came out and were none the wiser. 2 garages i took it to were the same, nothing coming upon the diagnostic machine. She's turning over but just not statrting. Was advised to take it to Vauxhall but thought i'd try here first. Cam sensors have been checked to no avail. CAN ANYONE HELP!!! All sugestions would be greatly received. Thanks.

Silly questions first, on the non starter, is there a spark? and if so is it a bright stong one. The DIS pack (Direct Ignition System) maybe worth a look at! £200 to buy at Vauxhall, absolute bitch to fit, try a scrap one first for £20 or so. Second silly question, is the fuel getting there? blocked filter etc..Dave C

The problem with the battery light on was nothing happening with anything - have been told it is the alternator and been quoted £170 to fit it? Thanks for your suggestions and help. Is £170 about right for this? The price is not from a garage but a guy who does repairs at weekends etc.

£170 isn't bad if he's fitting it too, taking into account that the parts that need to be changed are about 30 - 40 quid max! There's no harm in aproaching your local GM (Vauxhall) dealer as they will do exchange units as well as new and fitted, shop around! Cheapest is not always good economy, a 2 year waranty is however.Good Luck Dave C

To Non Starter, you probably sorted the problem by now,i f not this may help.I just happened to looking for something else on this site, and you problem is very familier, as suggested by another member you DIS pack may be faulty, check your no 1 plug. I have just replaced the DIS pack on my 3lt MV6, I got the part brand new sent over from England. £80.00 Original Bosch Unit from a vauxhall dealership. Although difficult to fit, with a bit off moving bits and pieces about, working from the top of the engine at the back of block it can be done in approx 40 minutes. come back if you need further advice mac

No Spark / No Fuel, Logically if that's the case, that could be a general engine management problem i.e. the ECU, the best idea is to try a spare known good unit, a friend with the same car or one from a scrapper, get the correct part nmber for x-referening if you try this route...Dave C

Just a further thought, it maybe worth checking the supply feed and the earthing points to the ECU prior to swapping the unit over......Dave C

Hi paul2 other things you may want to bring to your mechanics attention 1.Crankshaft Sensor prone to wear, very simple to fit, 2. Airflow meter, check the connection. very expensive to replace, however you should be able to pick up a second hand one for £25.00 -£40.00 but make sure the wiring end connection is the same as yours. They come square and oblong. MAC

Hi Teaser and ElitemanI have a problem with my satnav on 3.2 which may be related. The satnav works intermittently (ie about every 10 mins - no use when your moving). I just wonder if its the same fault. Any thoughts? Jim
