don't know if I am a widow as such, my 14 yr son has one, if I turn the b*****y thing off one more time, because he has left it on I will scream! Had to get him to turn it down the other night, I went to bed, dyingly ill, and all I heard was the squeal of tyres from one of his driving games! I just don't see the attraction! If he thinks he's getting his hands on my car in a few years he has another thing coming!

simple solution! join them!! we have just bought a Wii, my OH has a PS2 and X box, but he now won't play on the Wii with me as i beat him! noting to say that when he's playing football i'm on there on the practice, and of course i've read the instructions so i know all the cheats etc great fun!!! we have the Buzz game for the Ps2, and that is great fun too with the hollywood games.

when i first read this thread i thought it was my wife posting lol. i wouldnt call my wife a widow because i still help out round house with kids and that, i just play call of duty 4 because its better than whats on regular tv. although my wife made me put my tv in living room so she could see more of me and when she starts complaining i just say " atleast you know where i am".

I am a ps2/xbox widow too - to make it worse we only have one tv with the right connections and that is the main tv in the living room..so, not only am i ignored, but the whole house gets taken over too! V embarrassing if you have guests...!

lol...didnt expect much of a respone..but glad im not on my own...i no wot you mean nobby about guests...it is imbarassing..they just carry on playin like nobody is there..at least i do have a tv upstairs to watch..and to the comment at least your wife knows wher you ar...is terrible..you might as well not be when you at war{call of duty 4} because you all go off in your own little war talking to each other and then concerntratin..im sure your wife would be happier to have your full attention as i would my bloke now and again..i always say to my bloke i shold turn myself into his controller ..then id get all his attention when needed...us women do have needs too

i think its a fair comment, iv'e been gaming near 20 years now long before i was married and don't plan on stopping just yet. i gave up alot of things when i met my wife and had kids but gaming is the only one she's not expected me to give up, and she'd tell you herself partly because she knows where i am and what im doing. maybe you should have a go on it with him theres lots of women players out there too.

Oooh, read your post and that sounds like you've given up your entire life by getting married and having kids - ouch!!!!!!! Would slap my hubby upside the ear if i heard him saying anything like that out loud! lol I dont mind him having a game or two...it concerns me four hours later when hes still shouting at TV, taking over the computer for cheats, swerving in sync with the cars hes racing etc! Methinks its more of an obsession than a hobby!

that's not how its supposed to sound, gaming is the only good thing from my past (before my wife and kids) and i always put my family before gaming. imo its a hobby its not much different to my wife watching her fav soaps everyday.

i hope im not coming across as being rude because im really not trying to be its just i cant type as im thinking it. i agree with ya about shouting at the yanks and that cos i do it myself but i must have got the balance right on giving my wife the attention she needs and playing the xbox. i used the soaps because i dont watch them but my wife does so when she's watching them i jump on xbox for a few hours.

Nah your not being rude! Just sounded funny, thats all!! lol Thats the kind of thing my husband would say too! I think you've expressed the "gamers" point of view..good for you if you've mastered the art of turning it off before you get RSI!! Unfortunately, my husband hasnt, and probably never will. LOL

One good thing about this x-box's, ps2 things is the hand and eye co-ordination, when my son was told he was dyslexic, the powers that be told us that it was good practise to use one of these things, the men folk of the house took it literally! My daughter has a Wii, I am not very good on these gaming things, but did have a go with my son, he thrashed me at tennis, bowling etc., doesn't help he didn't tell me all the rules - and I am sure he changed his mind at least twice, so I didn't win! I did the age/fitness test and it came out at 74!!! I am not 40!!!

Tis a very sad sign of the times, not saying I never played on computers when I was younger but I spent alot more time out and about and doing things lol
