Hi If you live in the UK - go to the local library and borrow the Haynes Manual for your model - though to be fair they have limitations. For instance if you try to find out anything about a problem for your central locking - they are somewhat lacking in useful answers regards

Hey, Just checked the driverside loom and the green and yelow wire is cut. You said its cheap to go to Citreon instead of Peugeot do you know the code/name or is it just driver side loom being a neutral name for the part in all Citreon/Peugeot cars?

Hi all, have read the discussion about the common fault with the CL system, with great difficulty have found the central locking system under the drivers seat by the pillar. On insoecting the wires I have found the red wire (6293), but there is no green/yellow wire M623. My question is as anyone else come across this and should I try and link it with the other wires around to overide the auto unlock? help would be greatly appreciated

I have now solved the problem, went back to the system and tried most of the wires, luckily didnt blow any fuses and found out that Red wire (6293) and white (m6291) worked on mine and solved the auto unlock proble so many thanks to all for the advice that is posted on this site.

Did Cutcliffe get a price for the wiring loom. I just got quoted £67 incl VAT from Peugeot. Has any one changed this loom? Do the wires run straight through the side of the car into the connection block? Is it as straight forward as lifting the door seal, moving the carpet, disconnecting the old loom and then reverse procedure to fit the new one? At least in my case the doors unlock as soon as I lock them and checked the wires in the drivers side loom and sure enough the white wire is broken, right at the connector end. One workaround has been to get in the back, push down driver's/passenger side locks until they stop trying to pop up (only tries once). Lock the back doors and then for now I just unlock the drivers door with the key, the others stay down.

check the door's are closing propaly there may be a lose striker latch on one of the doors. as with all peugeots if the doors are not closing propaly the central locking will not lock this is standard in case you leave your keys in the car.

Hi guys/gals,My Peugeot 306 (June 1997) refused to open its doors for me this morning. The batteries in the key are fine (the red light comes on). But the remote central locking is unresponsive. This might sound like a silly question - but is possible to use the key to manually open the doors ?? I can try it when I get back home this evening as I don't reacall if the doors or boot has any manual key slots. I've only had the car for 2 months - so I don't know all its ins and outs etc.

Hi, Yes it is perfectly possible to use the key manually....I have done for the last 6 months....not got round to fixing the IR system. Just turn the key in the lock and it should the unlock all the doors. Not sure how you get in if that doesn't work?? The drivers door & the Boot on my 1995 model have keyholes!! regards John

I am REALLY embarassed!! There are manual key locks on both front doors - I just needed to open my eyes a bit more. D'oh!! (I blame the heat here in Portugal - I can think a lot better in wet and windy England!) Suffice to say I used the lunch break to nip back to the house and unlock the car (manually) - and drive it back! Much to the amusement of my Portuguese colleagues! However the remote central locking is still unresponsive - so I will take the car to a garage at the weekend. It will also give me a chance to get the air conditioning checked out as it only works periodically. But I think I'm going to read the rest of the posts in this discussion incase there is a quirk or fix that I may be able to deal with myself. Will post any findings. Thanks again!!

not sure if this helps...whenever my 306 imobiliser get's in a twist, I remove a battery connector, turn key in ignition (as if to start it), then get someone else to place the connector back on the battery. works 9 out of 10 times. Obviously, it requires enough juice in the battery to do this, so may be worth charging over night before doing this.

Danny, bought a306 last week, knowing they are a sturdy and reliable car (my partner has one), got ther price reduced a little because it had a tiny problem with locking!! Then I found this forum and thread. I have read but don't recall all of it. my problem is slightly different and I wondered if you had any advice to offer. Both front doors lock, with the key, but only independently. all the other locks operate or attempt to and pop back up, except for the passenger side rear door. Regardless of the popping up, neither of the rear doors open in any way. Opening the front doors occurs mechanically, with the key on that door only, and an attempt to lock the car from the drivers door, activates the electric central locking and unlocks the front passenger side door, which can then be locked from that side with no effect on the drivers door. the boot attempts to lock, but never does!!!. Now I realise that one or both of the rear door solenoids may be stuck, or even deadlocked. From my explorations it becomes clear to me that I am not the first to poke around. My question for you is outwardly a simple one, but I will be blowed if I can think of an answer, whilst lying upside down in the rear floor area/boot space with an exploratory arm up the inside of the door, in the manner of a vet trying to deliver a calf from a sick cow with a roll of barbed wire wound round his arm. How can I open the back doors to facilitate permanent disconnection of the central locking on these doors (if I cannot mend them I am quite happy to go about the stone age method of using the button and handle.) Whilst on th e subject of doors, I should mention that the electric windows, which at first worked spasmodically, now do nothing, having ceased to work whilst one of them was open two inches. I have worked on one door loom to no avail. I am going to the other door to check that loom, thence to return, check for advice, get shut of the car and throw myself in the canal, this being my third vehicle in ten days. The first having been written off by my son, the second caught fire whilst I was going to work, and destroyed the cars parked either side of it. Oh happy day!!!
