I am REALLY embarassed!! There are manual key locks on both front doors - I just needed to open my eyes a bit more. D'oh!! (I blame the heat here in Portugal - I can think a lot better in wet and windy England!) Suffice to say I used the lunch break to nip back to the house and unlock the car (manually) - and drive it back! Much to the amusement of my Portuguese colleagues! However the remote central locking is still unresponsive - so I will take the car to a garage at the weekend. It will also give me a chance to get the air conditioning checked out as it only works periodically. But I think I'm going to read the rest of the posts in this discussion incase there is a quirk or fix that I may be able to deal with myself. Will post any findings. Thanks again!!

not sure if this helps...

whenever my 306 imobiliser get's in a twist, I remove a battery connector, turn key in ignition (as if to start it), then get someone else to place the connector back on the battery. works 9 out of 10 times.

Obviously, it requires enough juice in the battery to do this, so may be worth charging over night before doing this.

Danny, bought a306 last week, knowing they are a sturdy and reliable car (my partner has one), got ther price reduced a little because it had a tiny problem with locking!! Then I found this forum and thread. I have read but don't recall all of it. my problem is slightly different and I wondered if you had any advice to offer. Both front doors lock, with the key, but only independently. all the other locks operate or attempt to and pop back up, except for the passenger side rear door. Regardless of the popping up, neither of the rear doors open in any way. Opening the front doors occurs mechanically, with the key on that door only, and an attempt to lock the car from the drivers door, activates the electric central locking and unlocks the front passenger side door, which can then be locked from that side with no effect on the drivers door. the boot attempts to lock, but never does!!!. Now I realise that one or both of the rear door solenoids may be stuck, or even deadlocked. From my explorations it becomes clear to me that I am not the first to poke around. My question for you is outwardly a simple one, but I will be blowed if I can think of an answer, whilst lying upside down in the rear floor area/boot space with an exploratory arm up the inside of the door, in the manner of a vet trying to deliver a calf from a sick cow with a roll of barbed wire wound round his arm. How can I open the back doors to facilitate permanent disconnection of the central locking on these doors (if I cannot mend them I am quite happy to go about the stone age method of using the button and handle.)
Whilst on th e subject of doors, I should mention that the electric windows, which at first worked spasmodically, now do nothing, having ceased to work whilst one of them was open two inches. I have worked on one door loom to no avail. I am going to the other door to check that loom, thence to return, check for advice, get shut of the car and throw myself in the canal, this being my third vehicle in ten days. The first having been written off by my son, the second caught fire whilst I was going to work, and destroyed the cars parked either side of it. Oh happy day!!!

hey there, just bought a 1993 306, C/locking is fine on the car, but drivers side door has to be locked and opened from the inside, (open the passenger door then reach over an open the drivers side) even when u put the key in manually, it doesnt open !!
all the other doors r fine just the drivers side, it can an does lock all the doors from the inside when u press the lock so i dont think its the c/L i think its more to do with the handle mechanism`s an the key barrel ( or something along those words lol ) ??
Also the back wiper doesnt work so a lil help there wouldnt go a miss neither.. Thanks again.... :0)
Not to clued up on cars, so any, an all help would be gratefull cheers!!

good old 306 locks.
take the door card off
and take a look inside
a latch probably just needs re-locating.

rear wiper could be the motor
or a fuse
check the later first.

hi
this might have been covered in the topic already but i only had a brief look through it.
basically i went to my 306 1.4. XL this morning and with ice on my car e.t.c. anyways the central locking didnt actually open all the doors, just the driver side door. i thought this could just be the locks being a little cold or possibly frozen
when i went to close the doors to i had to lock the the passenger side door seperatly from the inside...only when i put the lock down with the driver side door open it still locked without auto-unlocking.
after i left work later the door still does not activate the central locking on the car. however does work if i flip the lock down from the inside.
without actually doing anything to it, it now locks fine, only doesnt unlock all the doors with the key (due to not having a battery for my fob) just the driver side
could this be a problem with the lock on the driver side door

Hi all
My name is Eran and I have the same problem with the doors.
I took my car, peugeot 306 Diamond 1997, to a frind and after I just told him the problem he knew what it was:
the plug that connecting the car to the door was ok but the wires right next to the plug were all exposed and ripped.
an electronic short caused the problem.
one of the wires gives 6V every time the front door is opened and thats how the rest of the door are getting opend.
and now you can only guess why the doors are getting opend and closed all the time, a nother wire that tells the other doors to get opened was exposed too and also a permanent 12V wire.

I think that it is a problem with all french cars.
next time, buy a German one.

Hi there,
OK I think this problem is slightly different to the others. My partner has a P reg 1.6 petrol 306 3 door. The central locking seems to work fine, but she recently noticed that the passenger does not lock at all.

If you lock the car up the interior catches on the doors go down. The drivers door and hatch are both locked, but if you pull on the passenger door handle it opens. As it opens the central locking unlocks the rest of the car.

It behaves like this if you lock using the plip, or the keylock on the drivers side or the keylock on the passenger side.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Dunc

Hi ,

Think my problem is slightly different to others.

I have a peugeot 306 1.9D LX, and to lock the car with the key, is not a problem, however the Plip key works about once a month, I;ve changed the batteries on it and had the battery checked out, its fine! I've reprogrammed the key as described in the car manual and on numorous websites, other than visit the peugeot dealer and pay £60 for a complete replacement, does anyone know what could make this work ?

Regards,

Daz

Hi,
I have looked through this discussion and will check out the solutions posted here but as this is my first car I would hugely appreciate any tips/tricks to set me in the right direction first.
I have a 98 306 LX Estate on an S. The key works the central locking from the drivers door correctly. From the passenger door, the key operates the passenger and rear doors but not the driver's door. If the car was unlocked and I try to lock it, the car unlocks itself again. I get the same from the remote (with one, I can't seem to get both to sync).
Could you tell me if it is most likely the motor in the driver's door, some wiring or something else?
Also, the passenger electric window does not work on either switch.
The boot is unlocked by the remote or using the key in a door but using the key in the boot does nothing to the central locking. Is this normal?
Thanks a load
Will

I have a M reg 306 dturbo. Once I lock da car the locks pop up again, when locking using the key in the lock. When using the remote the alarm sometimes comes on. when the car locks the front 2 doors only lock, the boot will not lock at all so I cannot lock the boot!! does anyone know whats wrong? The key doesnt fit in the boot to lock it either.

Hi,

My central locking has never worked. The drivers door locks with the key (fob doesnt work) but the passenger door locks all other doors and then shoots the locks back up again afterwards. Also the alarm and immob dont seem to work. also, passenger side window and mirror cannot be opperated from the drivers side. The wiring loom from the drivers door to the pillar does have broken wires in it which im sure is the main cause of this problem however, i am unsure what will happen to the alarm and immob if i replace this loom?? I do not have the code for the immob, can this be reset? Also, does anyone know how to re-programme a kep blip as i have just brought a new one.

Thanks
