I had this exact problem on mine, it is not an easy fix I'm afraid, if it is in fact the same problem the wires that run into the doors have cracked or broken, it needs to have a new door loom installed probably on both sides, this is a common problem and cost me about £200

Changing the battery of the remote control Warning that the battery is flat is given by an audible signal accompanied by the message "Remote control battery low" on the multi—function display. To replace the battery, remove the screw then unclip the casing using a coin at the ring (CR2016/3 volt battery). If the remote control does not work after the battery has been changed, reprogramme the remote control. Programming the remote control Switch off the ignition.Leave KEY in Switch the ignition on again.Press button A.- nearest metal key end) Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control key from the ignition lock. The remote control is now working again Here hoping - from handbook

HELLO! i have read all the other threads on this 306 locking problem, however i have really struggled to find the central locking unit on my car (which is a W reg 2000 Hdi diesel 306) is there any suggestions out there where it might be hidden!!?? (p.s ive tried the rear seats, central isle where the handbrake is, under the drivers seat and passenger seat? is it maybe underneath the carpet?) the other odd thing is, if anyone knows i would be VERY grateful is i found a bunch of wires coming out of the central isle (near handbrake) and more worryingly these wires have a connector on the end (blue and yellow) and yet they are not connected to anything???? (im beginning to think thats why the central locking does not work in the front but only in the rear?) thank you very much in advance

I have a V reg 306 XD. Same central locking problem as everyone else and would like to action Solaris's workround. Problem--- Cannot find the Central Locking unit anywhere! Invested in a Haynes manual which gave three possible locations, Behind the drivers seat for models 93-97, Under the drivers seat next to the door pillar for 97-2001 and under the centre dash panel for 2001 on. It's not in any of these places! Anyone got any ideas? I've had the drivers seat out and had a long careful look under the carpet but no luck. The dealer wants £300 minimum to fix it. Help!!!

the problem is a group of wires called a loom. you can find it when you open the door. Its is between the two hinges of the door covered with black rubber tube. inside it is a collection of wires controlling the locking and windows. Over time the wires nip and twist eventually pulling apart. You need a good electrician or mechanic and buy the loom at peugeot.

sounds like one of your locking barrels is jamming the same way that if you leave the passenger door open it will react the same to reset the key with new batteries put in the new batteries and place in the driver door then turn anti clockwise for 20 sec and press the remote button dont think this is the way that the manual discribes but it has worked for me on two completely different 306 models good luck

The same thing has happened on my Pug 306. I had to drop the back seats and spray the locking mechanism with WD40. I found that the lock had got stuck. This should relise it. If not you might need to unlock it from the inside.I now have a new problem where my Boot doe's not lock at all. I can't do it by key and it always used to work with the central locking. Any Ideas? All other doors work perfectly everytime

There is a button to the right of your steering wheel it has kind of radio waves on it. If you put your key in the ignition and hold this button down for around three seconds or so the alarm will deactivate. It is due to the key fob setting the alarm and the key not unlocking that action. I have found my master switch is seized but I can get away with this method.
