Wot is 'Reynolds Disconnect Battery TRICK' ??? regards
Please read previous message dated 28 29th april
Just bought an S reg 306 diesel and I have a few issues which I will post in another post, but basically I have only one key fob with 2 buttons (1 large, 1 small). I replaced the batteries and if I press the big button all doors open except driver door. If I manually unlock the drivers door and press the large button again, they lock and then unlock. If I sit in the car and then manually lock the drivers door and then press the large button all doors lock. If I then press the small button something else locks! (no idea what) Do I have a faulty wiring loom in the door or should I squirt WD40 into the drivers lock to see if that works? By the way, if I use the key to manually engage the central locking all doors lock (including boot and petrol cap). Also, what is the small button for? According to my manual it is supposed to open the doors and deactivate the alarm/immobilizer but by pressing it all it does is light up the red LED on the key fob for a few seconds. Cheers
if you have recently refitted the door skin try taking the skin back of and adjusting the metal bar that holds up the door lock indicator (bit that moves up and down on door with the turning of the lock)this can catch sometimes causing this problem if no luck with this it might be the lock motor inside this door might need a new one you should wd40 locks anyway as part of maintenance and it might work (some 306 locking systems need reprogramming with new batteries could try putting key in driver door turning anti clockwise for 20 secs and press the big button usually with newer models)big button is central locking small button is alarm and deadlocks hope this helps
Thanks for that. I will try the reprogramming bit first and see if that does it. If not I will squirt WD40 into the lock (where should I spray it, where the key goes or the actual locking bit on the side of the door?) Cheers
cover the lock inside and out with wd40 and then operate the lock with the remote key and the key in barrell do this several times it may get messy but a little wd40 probably wont do much and even if it does it might not last take some tissue and use a fair bit of wd40
My central locking has failed - checked fuses seem ok - BUT when i sit in car and lok drivers door with the door pus down lever - I HEAR 2 CLICKS and when I pull the lever back up I HEAR THE 2 CLICKS - Does this help in determining the problem regards Adverts Currently On Preloved - Place an ad here for free
Is this answer referring to my query about the 2 electronic clicks. If it is is it not dangerous to do this or does it depend on which terminal you use - please advise
many thanks
I simply removed the sensor/curtersy cover and undid the two screws, then remove the electrical plug from the sensor, gently remove any rust that may have formed on the tiny black sensors. Dry the unit out with hair dryer on (cool setting of course), give it a spray with some WD40 and refit, should work fine after that. It's also worth spraying the rest of the unit and electrical contact with WD40. Also I found that my sunroof leakage was due to the drain holes being blcoked. If you open the sunroof they are located front left & right in the inner rim of the s/roof. Gently clear the blockage with a wire hanger then pour some hot soapy water through each and check under the front wheel arches, you should see the water draining away nicely. Worked for me, hope this helps. If doors area reopening after closing them check to make sure alll are well slammed closed including the tailgate. :)
My car doors on peugeot 306 "y reg",stopped working. I can manually lock all the doors with key , but not with the fob.So i have replaced the battery (in the fob).i have tried to program fob (due to changing battery).the program i used was to fit spare key into ignition.switch ignition to"a".then press the large button on fob, then the small button on fob. Then remove key from ignition.leave for 5 secs and tried to lock doors with fob.And of course it doesn't work.So the question i'm asking is.Is there anything else i can look for to try and fix this, or is it a case of go and see Mr Turpin (dealers). so he can rob my eyes out. P.s i have had a look at fuses , they look fine and taken the cover off the interior light between driver and passenger, to see if anything is a miss, as i'm told this is where to aim fob at when trying to operate it. any help would be gratefully received. b1lly
First thing, when you are re-programming the key fob, you need to ensure that you hold it very close to the sensor (pyramid shaped thing) next to the front courtesy light. Also give the sensor glass a wipe as it may be dirty. If that doesn't work, remove the courtesy light and sensor unit (2 screws under the clip off flap that secure it), unplug the 2 electric cables, then remove the sensor, spray with some WD40, if u have a sunroof, water/moisture may have got into it, so dry with a cool setting hairdryer then replace. That did the trick for me. Failing that it's very likely that the sensor is faulty, you can probably pick up one from the breakers for 20-30 quid. It's very unlikely that the central locking system itself is faulty. Hope this helps. :-)
