I checked the wiring on the door and tested the pins on the door connector by testing each pin indiviually, while pressing lock and unlock, and power is definately going to the front doors so im putting it down to the motors, does that make sense or could i have missed sumthing?Tom

it is possible that both motors have gone but very unlikely you may still be geting power to both doors and indeed to the motors but there is a wire that completes the loop (they do not just have in and out wires) still think you missed a broken wire get a tester and try to find the ends of each wire and look for a high resistances with the tester also look for earth wires and any loose earth points i will try and find a wiring diagram for you if you give me the exact model and year

it is a 1995 306, dturbo, 1.9. for now i have removed the locks from my old car 1996 306 1.4 petrol genoa, and will take the door card off and connect the motor to it to see if it work and if not could it be an earth problem? there are 5 wires i had the earth and the 2 to the motor connect at first and it worked fine, but when i connected the wires so that when you lock or unlock the front doors the rest do the same it seemed to work ok for a while then there jus seemed to be no movement what so ever off the front doors which is why i came to the conlusion of the motors being screwed possibly down to me connectin them last few wires incorrectly. i have 5 wires going to my central locking unit and the rest of the loom comes off that i have not altered the loom in anyway, just removed the wires from the old connection block to the old central locking unit and connected them to the corresponding wires on the new control unit*Update* iv jus stripped the door down and the motors are completely different but i tried another motor just connecting the 2 motor wires, then pressed lock and unlock and it works, the motor i tried was a 5 - wire master lock and it worked fine so im still betting on the motors being fried, so i need a new set this car is beginning to be a nightmare... like every car iv owned grr

We picked up a 1997 R reg 306 GLX auto yesterday and like fools didn't check the central locking. Parked it up and realised it wouldn't lock (usual lock / unlock problem as reported above).Removed the fuse to revert to manual locking so that's ok but then noticed the boot wouldn't lock. Key wouldn't turn in the lock. Quick spray of WD40 and that's now fixed and we can lock the boot but it does feel like there's quite a bit of resistance when you turn it. Re-inserting the fuse and trying central locking again but still doesn't work (in fact if you activate central locking when the boot is locked it actually unlocks it so that at least is working, but it won't keep it locked. Found the box for the central locking unit under the passenger seat behind drivers seat but and located the appropriate wires to short out but I don't know how to remove them from the connector block and I didn't want to cut them as I wanted to be able to put it back as is in case the attempted fix didn't work. How do those wires come out? Simply pulling didn't seem to work. I'm thinking it's probably not detecting the boot lock engaging and might give a bigger blast of WD40 a try. But any advice on those connector blocks appreciated in the meantime. Still even with manual locking I'm amazed at the spec of car you can buy these days for little money. Hopefully the wife (I don't drive) will get a few years of cheapish motoring out of it.

the most simple and overlooked cause of this problem is when the door lock pins that come out the top of the door card . the rods that push them up and down get bent when the door card comes loose they simply have to be put back in the correct position a little fiddly but a good first thought as it will cost nothing take the door card of and have a look dont worry its fairly easy and if you take it of and decide not to play it will go back on with problems

I think i'm having the same problem here, firstly the passenger side window decided to stop working when pressed by either switch. Then i noticed that i was getting a strange clicking sound every now and then like you get with the indicators but ofcourse they weren't on.And finally i now have the problem where eveytime i lock either of the front doors it locks and then unlocks straight away.I can push down the rear door locks with no problem but obviously when i push down either of the front ones it pops them all back up again. And to be honest neither of the wing mirror controls work particually well but that maybe just the fact that their just rubbish anyway. I haven't locked it using the keyfob as when i put a new battery in it seems to run out within a matter of days, and i've never felt the need for the keyfob anyway :) BTW it's an R reg 98? diesel turbo.

Hope this helps someone. It was from years ago when I fixed the wiring on the door of my 306 Genoa. I am just about to have a go at the door on my 306 estate which I think is to blame for the same problem i am having. When I lock the drivers door, all the doors lock and unlock again. When I lock the passanger door it locks but none of the others. I assume it is the lock sensor connection on the wiring plug on the passenger side I will fill in the blanks on the picture which are probably connections for the electric windows. I didn't have them on my Genoa.

I checked the wiring on both front doors of my 306 today and they seem fine. Does the following problem sound like a faulty solenoid or a wiring problem to anyone?Locking the car with the remote just causes all the doors to lock and unlock again. Same goes for locking either of the front doors with the key. From inside the car, locking the drivers door by pressing the lock down causes all the doors to lock and unlock, locking the passenger door by pressing the lock down just locks that door and nothing else. Any thoughts would be appreciated

sounds like the locking pins mite not be locating properly on the driver door and dont think that trying to force them in to place will do it you will bend the pin more and it will get worse make sure the door card is in the correct !!!place!!! your locking sounds like its working properly its just not locating properly its just a suggestion but i have fixed around 20-30 306s with this problem there a little fiddly but a little patients goes along way whilst putting the pins just right wd40 the lot locks love lube and this will grately increase your chances of discovering the problem

Thanks for the info. What do you mean by the locking pins?I had thought the problem was with the passenger door as locking that door from the inside doesn't trigger the central locking.

I decided not to waste my whole weekend trying to track the problem down and decided to bypass the sensor circuit as described by Solara in the first page of this topic. It worked fine and now all of the doors lock an unlock normally. The codes and colours on the wiring loom are different to the those described in Solaras description and are also different to the circuit diagram in the Haynes manual. The position of the wires is correct as described by Solara (second wire was red on my connector).
