Regarding the central locking control unit, you don't have to disconnect any wires. Just take a small piece of wire about a couple of centimeters and strip the ends from it. Use this piece of wire to create a connection between the earth connection and the other cable as described in the message on page 1 of this discussion. You do this by just pushing the wire into the back of the connector along with the wire which is already there.

Hi there everyone, ive had the very same problem with my peugeot 306 xsi, P-reg. Thanks to the info supplied by you guys on this forum i have managed to rectify the fault. I had to Lift up the rear seats to access the C/L control unit which is located to the *!#%!@ then you can remove the black multiplug from the afore mentioned unit.I had to connect 6291 white wire to 6293 beige/orangey coloured wire and hey presto the C/L now works....thanks guys, hope this info might be usefull to someone.

I have a L reg diesel 306, the fob does not seem to work but I could always lock the central locking with the key.now the central locking will not work with the key,at the same time the interior light has stopped working.the main problem is that when the central locking was working on the key I did not even know that I had an alarm, since the central locking no longer works on the key the car alarm sometimes goes off without warning and the immobiliser engages, I dont know how to stop the alarm and it is very embarrassing, the fobs led flashes but it has never appeared to have had any effect.I tried to disconnect the battery when the alarm was going off but it did not help. I hope someone can help me with this.

Hi Terry,

I have an N Reg which may be slightly different as the 306 was revised/updated slightly from the M reg but should be similar.

Firstly to manually switch off alarm:-
1. open car door, put key in ignition, turn to position 2, accesories, without cranking ignition

2. Immediately press and hold down, for 10secs approx, the alarm disable button (located on the steering column near to the ignition switch)

To fix the central locking:-
The fact that your plip is flashing/signalling ok, & the courtesy light's also stopped working suggests that the overhead sensor is faulty or corroded

1. Unscrew the overhead sensor/courtesy light unit, condensation or a leaky sunroof/windscreen, usually causes corrosion in it.
2. Spray with WD40, especially in the pyramid section, which has an insert that u need to slide out and spray as well, u will see 4 prongs inside these r the sensors, ensure all corrosion is gently removed from them
3. Use a hair dryer cool setting for a few secs.
4. Refit unit

That worked for me, failing that, you very likely need a replacement sensor unit, get one from a breakers; http://www.247spares.com r a good place.
Note that the M reg onwards may have updated units that may not fit your model so specify the exact model/month/year of manufacture.

Hope this helps!! :-)

Hi Again Terry,

Glad the temp alarm off measure worked ok.

To switch the Alarm off permanently, open the bonnet and locate the key switch, near/towards the radiator, use your alarm key to switch off. (I assume that you have the alarm key? If not your best/most cost effective bet would be to fix the overhead alarm responder unit as I previously explained in order to allow you to control the alarm fully once again). Obviously I'm assuming that my revised N Reg model has the same basic alarm running gear as yours. Good luck!

thanks edwards,I have not got the key so I think you are right and I am going to try and fix the unit by the interior light. I had a look and found a small wire out of the plug, I could not get it back in properly so I am trying to get one off a breaker.thanks once again.
terry.

havnt read this topic properly and not putting anyones method down but the the real problem with the central locking or ANYTHING to do with the door becoming intermittent or not working is the DOOR LOOM CONNECTOR, it is caused by wires in the connector fraying and breaking over time. a replacement can be bought from peugeot dealers but cost over £100, you may also be able to get the wiring looms at a breakers yard for £10 to £30 (average price) although you may not find one in good condition (with broken wires). there are guides on peugeot 306 owners clubs, i also have a link to one of the many guides out there http://www.pug306.net/forum/showpost.......amp;postcount=7 you will also find me over there :)

I eventually tried to bypass the unit myself on our 306 following the yellow/green (a623) with the blue (6293) (although 6293 wasn't blue on mine). Didn't work unfortunately for me. No change at all.

Saw a couple of people saying it works if you connect 6291 to 6293? I guess that might be worth a go. Find these things really fiddly and am worried I'll end up breaking a wire and something electrical going badly wrong :-)

Have read this thread with interest. I have a 306 1.6 petrol estate year 2000. I have the same locking problem as people describe here, try locking the car and the lock just jumps back up. My added issue is that it seems to be also activating the immobiliser and the car wont start.

I have checked the wires going into the doors and none are broke, the doors are not open but clearly the car thinks one is. The problem started yesterday morning. Later on in the morning i tried locking the car with the key and not the remote. This worked and the car would then start. Unfortunately this was only a temporary reprieve and i am back to the same problem, locking the car with the key does not solve the problem.

Can anyone help?

Looking for some help please :-)

I recently brought a Peugeot 306 to which I was told it had central locking but none of them go up or down, I'm thinking this could be a fuse problem but I could be wrong. Also I was wondering if this car should be remote central locking the reason being that there seems to be a sensor next to the interior light?
