I have just bought a Peugeot 306 1.9 XLDT 'P' Reg. I have a similar but slightly different problem; If the passenger door is locked you can use the remote key fob [or the drivers key lock] to lock or unlock all the doors in the car. However if the passenger door is unlocked and you attempt to lock the car it does the whole auto-unlock thing, i have checked and see no deformation or wear on the rubber gromet/sleeving and have tried shorting out the auto-unlock circuit at the control box thing under the seat, this did not work [i tried both wire combinations as there seems to be a discrpancy between posts]. Here is the odd bit; as you probably know it tries for a second or two to lock the doors and then gives up and auto-unlocks them all. During this time i can hear the motor in the rear passanger side door trying to lock it. So i thought maybe it was that lock playing up, but in that brief time i have tried to open the door and is locking. Finally, if you manually lock the passenger door, it locks the rear door too! Thats just confusing?!!? Is it the sensor in the door telling it isnt locked when it is? Thanks in advance... TOBIN

Thanks Solara
Sounds like the sensor is not telling the control unit that the door is closed try connecting a wire between the sensor closed curcuit should stop the sensor resend problem
I got a 1997 306 2 months ago and my passenger-side window (luckily) is up but stuck there. And I expect more to come. I want to go the find-the-broken-french-wire way. Cheers

I purchased a 306 a couple of months ago. I was unaware of any central locking troubles until last Sunday when I returned to my car to found for the first time that it had unlocked itself. Unfortunately for me, someone else had noticed this first and done away with my car stereo. I was a little confused as to how someone had got into my car without smashing a window / forcing a lock etc. This discussion thread would appear to shed some light on the issue!
Hi, erm.... Ive just brought a 3 year old 306 XSI, its my second pug but my first with CL, reading through the manual it actually tells you what to do if your key stops working. Or if you replace the batteries. When the batteries are removed the key forgets which car it belongs to, you have to turn on the ignition and press one of the buttons (dunno which at the moment). This re-programs the key for your car. It should then work as new. So rewire your cars, replace your fuses and rtfm ;) I actually joined this site just to offer this piece of information. ((((please note that on older peugeot's you MUST keep the key AWAY from mobile phones, this can actually ruin them beyond repair))))
Well,,,,, THIS WEEK ,, me locks have gona bust. When i lock her, she pops back up,, and i've stripped the door ( driver ) and tried all the tips listed in this forum,, but still have no joy. Anyone got any ideas? Its xmas and im in big need of these locks coming back to life! H E L P ! ! ! !
I now see why this was done,,,, this was done to enable the lock ( on either door) to be bypassed, and take its signal from the woring door switch. This means that you can lock the car, with one of the doors wide open (which ever door had the error) Or simply add mo msn / drop me an email : [Log in to view email]
I read all your comments about 306 central locking problem. I actually have a slightly different prob. First I bought this N reg 3dr 306 XS, most people only has a keyfob but i was given a remote control, which is not standard for a 306. anyway the button on the keyfob doesnt do anything but the remote is supposedly locking the car and set on alarms. ok, press the button when i get off the car, the doors dont lock, right, try the key, i lock the driver door but the passenger door doesnt lock, ok, lock from the passenger door, the driver door doesnt lock. OK, now press the passenger door pin inside, then use the key to lock the driver door, the passenger door lock pops back up, vice versa. basically when one door locks it unlocks the other. The remote does unlock the doors properly as i could hear, but it is rather pathetic that i had to take out the central locking fuse. Luckily it is only a 3 door so no need to press 3 doorpins down before i get off. So... anybody got any ideas aboot this 'opposite door unlocking' problem? i saw some guy on ebay selling advice on fixing central locking for a tenner, but i guess it was probably Solara method he is tryna sell Lawrence
