A friend of mine had one of these, seem to remember it being an early 90's model and a diesel.
Is your's the v6 petrol version ?
Cant remember if these are part time or full time 4wd cars.
If it's got a lever for changing it back & forth between 2wd & 4wd then it's a part time 4wd and you dont really want it in 4wd unless you are in mud or snow or loose gravel etc.
I think all these mistrals were imports as this name wasnt ever used in uk (for a nissan)
Driving with the choke out ?
Is this a carb model ???

Yes, its got a second gear lever to put it into 4 wheel drive.. but I dont know much about that!! Typical Woman!!! but do know, you would only use that in Mud, Snow, ect... is that right???

Your one must be different as my firends one didnt have and manual knob for fuel enrichment it was all done automatically but irrespective you dont really want to be driving it any distance with any fuel enrichment or fast idle active.
Does the engine rev up ok if you floor it when stationary (in park or neutral) ?
2 years is a long time to leave a car, it could be the fuel is past it's best, it might be worth getting the fuel filter checked to see for any contamination of the diesel.
