Hi all, Another sleepless night on my settee but no puppies as yet.... I do have something to report though. Have taken Mia's temp this morning and it has dropped to 36.8 degrees so fingers crossed she should have her puppies within the next 24 hours or so...........
DEEP BREATHS KEEP CALM!!!!!!!!!

Your right, she had a nibble of her mince beef last night then nosed the bowl around. I have put her breakfast down and she was not interested. She has has a few laps of chicken soup, but seems very subdued and is just lying in her whelping box, intermitenly getting up and pawing and mouthing at her blankets.

my bitch had 11 puppies 5 weeks ago she started at half 2 in the afternoon and finished at half 10 was quite a easy labour i had to break the sack on first couple of pups as she was unsure what to do and was nudging them instead of washing them but after first two she was like a natural they all survived even the littlest one we thought we'd lose it is a fantastic experience you can see clearly when they start actively straning their whole tummy sucks in looks like shes trying to hold her breath in when she starts doing that she wont be long i hope all goes well and you have a great experience as i have with my bitch.

Well another awful nights sleep on the settee!!!!
Still no pups. Mia has not progressed to stage 2 as yet. This morning she was very lathargic, and she has not had ay food or water for over 24 hours. I have contacted the vets this morning for some advice and they wanted to check her over.
Just bought her back home she is ok!!! Been given some glucose powder which she need to have given by syringe to keep fluids and energy up!!!
Just a waiting game now ;0)
My poor big girl!!

No. Just that it can take up to 36 hours for stage 1 and she obviously wants to keep everyone waiting!!!

have you tried a brisk walk round the garden this sometimes helps kick start labour although keep a close eye out when she squats as it might look like shes going toilet when shes actually having a pup its also helpful to take them out during labour to relieve themselves as the squatting seems to help the pups still remaining move down to the birth canal i learnt this off my vet as my girl had 11 and was getting tired towards the end we were expecting to have to do a c section but thankfully she was ok although do not believe what scans say they said she was carrying 6 to 7 and she had 11!

Hi, Gave her a couple of brisk laps of the garden when we got back from the vets, she has been out to the toilet With me watching her every move much to my neighbours disgust ;0) , she has come back in to do some bed making and started to pant. Panting went on for maybe 15 mins or so and now she is having a doze (although breathing more rapidly than normal)
