Nicnbizz,
I know just what you mean, i had a male boxer Jake before Mia... He was a rescue dog who had been abused and not fed properly.. He used to break into my freezer and eat loads of frozen food... He could open doors and jump over anything!!!! He was such a character... He was my first Boxer and although a stereotypical problem "sticky" dog he got me hooked on boxers and I doubt I will ever own a different breed of dog. I think you either Love or hate them!!!!!

Sorry about your loss of your grl and how you feel about not being their for your little girl when she had her litter.... (apparantly some dogs do hold on to their litter until they are alone and then have them) I am sure that she gave and received all the love and affection anyone could ever wish for x x

hi
i have 6 8wk old staffie pups, so have been there, done that.
all i will say is get your sleep now before her due date. i went 4 nights with very little sleep just because i know she was due.
glad i was there when she has them as she had a breech(2nd pup) and it got stuck, had to help her pull it out (sadly we lost it but at least roxi was safe). she did the rest herself, didt have to help out once.
whlping -- i used porriage when they were 2 1/2- 3 wks made with warm water, and tin pup food with warm water (to sofen). now they are eating us out of house and home.
it will be so sad when they all go

Good luck with your litter, i recently had a stud litter scanned and they said there was three in there and she had eight!!, you can buy all your supplies from hyperdrug.co.uk, i advise getting dopram drops these drops help any puppies that are not breathing to breathe you place a few drops on the tongue and off they go, you can also get your milk and wormers from there, i wormed my pups every two weeks until they went to there new homes, you shouldnt need milk if everything is ok as once they are 5-6 weeks you will be weaning them off so your bitches milk can start to dry up, you dont want them on her all the time at this age as they will drag her down and when they do leave for their new homes she could get mastitis, i soaked puppy food for the pups and they also like scrambled eggs, minced chicken,
The bags the pups are born in are harder to break than you think grow a nail especially for breaking this and the bitch should be encouraged to east the afterbirth as it has many vits and mins in and will help her regain her energy, hope all goes well

This may be a silly question - but do they have just one afterbirth for all of the pups? And how long does it take to come out after shes had the pups? My neighbour was really frightened and whipped her dog to the vets after having her pups as she was worried one was left behind - as it was, she was all ok thankfully! She didnt recall there being an afterbirth as such though?

Hi, there is one afterbirth for each pup, but it wont necessarily come out with the pup, i would write down how many you get as they come out so you know you have them all, i would also weigh the pups once they are dried to make sure they are putting on weight, i had 2 afterbirths missing and they came out after the sixth pup,
