my overheating fan doesnt come on when sitting in traffic then the oil light and stop light on dash comes on when i pull over and let it cool down car drives ok again. this only happens when sitting in traffic not when driving long distancences,any ideas and how much to repair or could i fix it myself ?

Check the obvious first like the fuses, connections on the fan relay, and on the electric fan switch.
