Hi Have just bought x police V70 2002 and notice the lights only work when the switch is turned manually the dash lights come on as soon as the ignition is turned on.is this correct? any ideas

Hi Mickey, yeah this is right for these cars.
On Some of the older models there was a tinly little screw head built into the switch, just below the side/head switch which could turn the day running lights off and on but on the later models the lights are turned off via a diagnostic tool but the instrument lights still come on independently,
What some people do though is to simply move the dimmer wheel down to put the instrument lights off through the day.

hi thanks does this mean that there are no day running lights fitted to this car

All the volvo's for a long long time have had day running lights built into them, it's simply a case of whether there activated or not.
If it's the later model that doesnt have the screw in the switch then you can just go into volvo and ask them to activate them for you if you want them on.
