Hello all,

Rover 214SLi K plate, recently overheating, no water or oil displacement, judders and jumps when driving cold in third, fourth (now just let the engine warm up and that deals with it) Fine on motorways and long trips, no problem. Short journeys <10 miles is a nightmare.

Have flushed the oil and water ystem, no diffrence, theres no sign of misfiring and is fine when engine warm, any ideas please?

Try replacing the temp sender unit for the ecu, this controls the amount of fuel delivered. Also check the resistance at the ecu of the temp sender & wiggle the wiring to see if you have a bad connection or break in the cables.

Thankyou for your reply. I did check the oil and water and there is no mixing of either and the seals are sound. My Mrs is on a long trip in the car as I type and she has just rang to say that the car is slightlty juddering and the needle is erratic, but temperature remains constant, also told me that she had to pull over as she couldn't get into gear (3rd) then she is not used to the car, and I have no such problems before. Any further advice please?
