Hi,
just wondering if any body had any ideas, I was out the other day in my 406 hdi when it was pouring with rain when i lost power from the engine.
It did,nt stop and no lights came on the dash. It would still pick up speed but after a dead spot. Its almost like i now have bad turbo lag. First two gears it drives normally in to third put the foot down and wait a few seconds and then it will pull like a train same in forth foot down nothing then after a few seconds picks up and runs fine.
I am going to go buy a new fuel filter and some injecter cleaner this morning and see if that makes any differance ?
Maybe the EGR ???
Thanks.

I give mine a good thrashing in second gear every now and again to clear all the crap out of the exhaust, not sure if this is whats wrong with yours, but it sounds similar.

hi there
check the air filter and housing for signs of water ingress, the air filter will look swollen or will still be wet, check for signs of rusting or water stains on the airflow meter fitted on the top part of the airfilter housing make sure if replacing it is of the correct type ,should have a water repelling pad on the bottom or the element.also another cause could be one of the soleniod electro/vacuum valves fitted on the engine bay bulk head,it is quite commom for these to suck in water vapour and this effects the operation of the valve, these electro vales control the turbo waste gate (hdi110 BHP),the egr valve and inlet manifold shut off butterfly, any one of these could cause you a problem with engine power.

Hi madmark,
many thanks for your help.I have noticed that the EGR ( i think) if that is the valve thing that moves up and down when you rev the engine has stopped moving.I have sprayed it with wd40 but still not moving.I have checked air filter and thats fine and i checked the filters on the two black plastic things on the bulkhead and they are fine.It is the 110 i have so i think it must be the EGR thats Kaputt ???
Many thanks for your help sir,
regards,
jim
