Peugeot 406 cruise control fault

I have a 2001 406 hdi 110 and the abs has been playing up at low speeds which I found to be the reluctor ring on the driveshaft broken and loose, I have changed this and the brakes work as they should (not scary and dangerously). I have changed the brake light switch and the cruise control switch on the brake pedal, and the cruise control still won't work. I have checked and the fuse for this circuit also does the brake light circuit and the lights work, the light illuminates in the cruise control switch could it be a dodgy stalk ? I have been throwing money at the car and had the brains read and there are no faults stored in the memory. The cruise control has always been hit and miss, when I first brought the car I used to have to park and switch the engine off and then drive again and 9 times out of 10 this would make it work again but now nothing. I hate gadgets that don't work it annoys me. Could anyone advise me if they know where the problem is. Thanks Adam

you need to check the things that will cancel the cruise when it is working,these are brake pedal switches...... correct fitment and adjustment clutch pedal switch.........correct fitment and adjustment cruise control stalk..........buttons stuck in or not switching when operated com 2000 unit (switch pack underneath the steering wheel ) .......not sending the stalk infomation to the bsi unit brake light bulbs ........ correct type and operation incorrect road speed infomation........ speedo not working etc possible driver error...... trying to set below 30mph ,trying to set on incorrect gear (only works in 4th and 5th ) most of the checks should be done using suitable diagnostic equipment,so that you can then see if the switches are switching and the infomation is sent and recieved correctly. madmark peugeot tech ___________________ yes i am a peugeot technician
