Hi, my name is joanne. I am attempting to write a novel. It's about a soldier and his brother who served in the first world war.Thomas rupert clancy enlists underage at the age of sixteen . when stan his younger brother too is sixteen he does the same and enlists but sadly is killed on the first day of the somme. It's a story of their childhood together, going off to fight in the war, the frienships made along the way and for thomas a fight to avenge his brother's death, to stay alive and for the guilt, grief and pain of having survived without him to eventually end.A story of love and courage knowing no bounds. Is anyone else doing the same, finding it hard to do?

sounds fab!i gues the best advice i can give you is know your subject matter.
study psychology, (the internet can help you)
Be historically accurate. eg places, regional language,
be sccurate in physical descriptions,eg hair, clothes, places they went to would look different now...
just emmerce yourself in that eara enjoy the music and the films and if possible talk to people who lived in the area at the time your book is set.
