Hi everyone...im currently 9 weeks pregnant and were both so very excited! Even though we were trying to concieve for quite a while it still was a suprise and took ages to sink in that there was a tiny life inside me and its so scarey! God knows how it feels for people who are not expecting it to happen! It would be great to hear other peoples pregnancy experiences...so far iv suffered morning sickness...although its more like 'any time of the day sickness!' iv also developed hayfever which is a pain as i cant take anything for it...my asthma has come back too! but i know its all gonna be worth it! Im also sooo paranoid with what i do/eat ect cuz i know that god forbid any thing was to go wrong i would never forgive myself, so im making sure i go by 'the book' with every thing i do. does every1 feel like this or am i just extra paranoid?? ..... from amanda & embryo XX

Hello and congratulations!!!! I am 29 and have 2 children, lewis and amber. Lewis is 7 and amber is 4. My first piece of advice would be to not read too many books. Although they are very informative they will also give you so many things to worry about that you hadnt even thought of!!!!!!! Relax, eat well, and let your partner do the ironing hehe, tell him it hurts your back, lol.
if there is any thing you want to ask or that your worried about feel free to ask as were a friendly bunch!! janine

Helloooo! Congratulations! My advice -make the most of people fussing over you and pamper yourself!
Main thing - make sure you eat healthily, and take regular gentle exercise..this makes the labour much easier if you keep active (both of mine lasted 4hours max from start to finish, my first was almost a toilet-baby!!)
Dont worry too much about vitamins etc, i found that my body craved the foods which contained the vitamins i needed. My main craving was tomatoes - i'd get through 2lb per week, used to snack on them like apples! lol Also, being pregnant will leave you really tired so take naps when you need them. Like Janine sed, any questions just ask us - we've all been through it.
ENJOY IT! :-)
Ah, an afterthought - invest in some baby oil and rub it into your belly and hips every day even now..i have heard it can help reduce stretchmarks. And...labour is not as difficult as they'd have you believe - i sailed through both of mine without making a sound, just stay focused and relaxed. :-D

Congratulations!

beat you on that Nobby, my daughter lasted 28 minutes from start to finish!.....would have loved a third to see how fast that one would have been! First one only 4 hours!

Definately keep mobile and fairly active - no horse riding or anything silly, just nice walks, swimming is really good for you and when you get bigger it helps to keep bump a bit more comfortable at least while you are in the water.

My kids are in their teens now, but there was a book from Mothercare, called pregancy week by week, a bit like a diary (they also do one for the first year of life). It takes you though the pregancy at every little stage and you can use the 'diary' page to chart what happens to you, visits to hospital, scans etc., Its lovely to find it 10 years later and re-read the first time baby moved, first kick etc.,

I know Nobby said about vitamins, but do ask your doctor, especially about folic acid (makes your poo black! LOL!) I am anemic so it did help for me, and of course you get it free! Also get your teeth checked, you are now eligable for free dental care.

Make the most of the next nine months, rest, gentle exercise, nice food and make sure you get lots and lots of attention.....! but, have fun and enjoy it, well done you!

Marmite on toast for breakfast...marmite sandwiches for lunch..and a spot of marmite on crackers for supper!! lol Contains folic acid.
As long as you eat a healthy diet you should get the vitamins you need, but talk to your midwife if you are worried about anything. :-)

Hi Amanda congrats.I have 5 of the little darlings (so it's obviously not that bad; although the last preganacy was twins). All the advise from the others is great, make the most of this time relax and enjoy the changes. The morning sickness wil pass soon ,I found nibbling dry crackers helped. The last time it was motion sickness so I carried a pkt in my handbag. My kids are now 30-24-18 and 13(twins).If you have any questions about anything just ask.Make sure your man helps out with things and share everything with him.He will feel like a spare whatsit at a thingy. You are having all the feelings and he is probably so excited and about to burst with pride, but he wont want to take anything away from you.All he thinks is here is this beautiful woman and she's having his baby.So LOL TO THE 3 OF YOU.

CONGRATULATIONS well done both of you I've got 4, 2 girls & 2 boys age 7, 4, 3 & 1, 1st labour 7hrs waterbirth in a midwife run hospital 2nd 30mins in big hospital 3rd 15mins in big hospital & 4th 10mins at home hubby delivered while 3 kids were asleep in bed i was in the pragnancy & birth mag. I found labour is scary to read about & a bit nurvy when midwives tell you all about it but going through it is so different it's realy nice in a wierd sort of way & its a very easy pain to deal with plus at the end of preagnancy your so board of waiting you cant wait for it to happen. dont waist time worrying about things unless there is something to worry about. I look at all 4 of my children still amaized that i got them buy a supernanny book when your baby is nearing 2 i dont really use it much but it's full of fantastic tips & gives you confidence. mack sure you get all your benifit packs you have to ask nowerdays, & folic tabs arnt the ones that turn poo black that would be the iron tabs not everyone has to have them. feeling sick is a very good sign that your body accepting the pregnancy. just post any questions we mums love to answer them the best we can.

sorry, can't bare to be wrong! folic acid tablets are part of the vitamin b group, same as iron, B12, it is used to treat anaemia - low iron, B12 - and well as prevent neural tube defeats in unborn babies, like spina bifida. A healthy diet can provide all the iron, vitamins and folic acid needed, but some people can be low for what ever reason. Using folic acid tablets can help with such problems, like anaemia, to form healthy red blood cells, it is the excess of these red blood cells that cause the stools (poo) to turn black. But, you are right, you don't have to have them, only they are recommended for the first 12 weeks of pregancy and just before whilst practising, to give baby a good start for the afor mentioned, however, always ask your doctor and get prescribed, because its free when pregant!

ps, would have loved a 10 min birth, thought I was quick!

CONGRATULATIONS ...PINK & FL!
fIRST BABY EH! well i have had 8, yes 8, 7 girls and 1 boy and all my births were different as was carrying them. i too developed hay fever with my son no7, and now have allergies to Apples and peaches! I loved being pregnant and only avoided soft cheese & mayonise (just in case) but never had a problem.
My advise to you would be, don't listen too much to others as all of our bodies are different and reguire different things, this is often why we crave, go with the craving... sleep, have an afternoon nap towards your last 2/3 months don't cross your legs, as I had a thrombosis, but more importantly enjoy your pregnancy as it goes quick and in some cases it makes you feel at your best.
I forgot to say that i'm a grandmother to 8 as well, 7 girls and 1 boy...... good luck

Morning sickness passes?!! I was doing the technicolour yawns right up until my day of labour for both of mine!! lol
More advice, if you are suffering from this, try to eat foods which go together when they come back up again - theres nothing worse than throwing up a gross combination of food! lol Orange juice is ok..!!!

Hi every one thanks for all your replys! i havent replied in the last few days as iv been at work...i work as a live in carer...i do all my hours (48) in one shift, although i get to sleep so its not as bad as it sounds lol! I also do another night in the week. i am worried about the hours though after the birth because its gonna make it hard to breast feed being away for two days at a time. theres no way i can change my hours and cant afford to give job up...im kinda hoping my doc will say the hours are unsuitable therfore meaning i would have to be suspended on full pay :) i know maternity leave is available for up to a year but this will be difficult because it would not be enough to cover bills/mortgage as i am the main earner. so im gonna have to use my holiday allowance to take time off...sorry for going on its just playing on my mind alot!! GRR! so much 2 think about! lol! oh yes...iv been taking folic acid from the day i found out...i would have taking it while we were trying to concieve but i didnt realise then that i needed 2! im now awaiting the letter from the hospital regarding my first scan which should be in approx 3 weeks. were both so excited for that!!! :oD would be lovely to keep in touch with u all ... Amanda and Embryo XXX

Hiya, hope you are not doing too much twisting or lifting in your job? I know i was at college when i was pregnant, on a social care course and had to do work placements which involved a few lifts and heavy wheelchair pushing, was a bit strenious really. Just be careful you dont do too much, especially in these early months! Isnt there anything a bit less physical you could do?

Hi, firstly congrats - there is nothing to beat the feeling of finally getting something or someone (your baby) that you have longed for, so enjoy your bump as she/he grows. You could express your breast milk when you are away from home as it can now be stored and frozen for a good few days now.Any how that is later be sure to rest and look after yourself and let your other half cherish you too and share this wonderful time with you.

Ooh sounds like you have nice employers! I tried to express milk, found it very difficult, personally. If i heard my baby cry i could shoot targets a mile off, and easily clear the end of my bed..but if i was sat in the bath, trying to relax and express milk - it just wouldnt happen!! lol I know of other people who had no trouble at all though, i think it was just me!

hiya congratulations :)

I just had my second child , Daniel he's 7 weeks old now

how does a 3 min birth sound then ladies ;) a lovely planned home birth
it kept the midwife on his toes sprinting up the stairs saying HI!! I'm Simon how you doing? ah! ok ready I see!!

advice? keep as active as you can don't use being pregnant as an excuse to eat allsorts and pile on the pounds - they are so hard to shift once they are on !
read up on anything you aren't sure of if you have any birth ideas right now then read everything you can on it there are so many available options
don't make any firm decsions on anything cross each bridge as you come to it , things we SWEAR we'll never do and before you know it, you're doing it !

:D enjoy it even the rubbishy bits , it's all an experience to be savoured !
