Yes please its so exciting! Lucky you!! I am so clucky its outragous - would be having one myself if my husband would HELP wiht the baby..!
Oh, and if i didnt have to be pregnant. Me and pregnancies dont agree! lol
Have you thought about how youd like to give birth? I had one at home and the other a water birth. No pain relief for either birth, but it was bearable! Im happy to give you any advice on either if you are interested?

Hi... iv been thinking about a water birth as it sounds the most relaxing option! im not sure about pain relief, iv read some can have an effect on the baby so i may just stick with gas n air. i deffinatly dont want an epidural because i want to be able to feel whats going on...even if it hurts lol! if you could give me some more info on the water birth that would be great :o) speak soon...amanda & baby X

Hiya, well the water birth is a great option! I would say dont set your heart on it coz it depends on hospital policies and whether the tub is free at the time you go into labour etc, and to have a 2nd option just in case.
IF you are lucky enough to get it, it is amazing. I did not even have gas and air for either birth, i had nothing! On my first labour (home birth) she came so quickly that i tore quite badly and refused stitches - so for the second labour i was really afraid that i would tear in the same place again. Have to say that the water really takes the pressure/weight of the baby away from your body, as it supports the baby as it comes out - so the risk of tearing is only very slight, and i was fine 2nd time around!
Ther is also no risk to your baby drowning etc - it only takes the breath when air hits the back of your baby's throat (its a reflex) so its perfectly safe for your baby to be supported by the placenta for a while, once it comes into the water. As long as it doesnt come to the top, take a breath, then go under again - then you are fine. Your midwife is obviously in charge and will let you know when its safe to have them underwater and when to bring them out. My daughter swam for a few seconds, then we removed her. It was a lovely moment, but you do have to listen to your midwife!
Make sure your partner is ther with a cold flannel/jug of water coz it gets very hot during labour (the tub has to be kept at a warm degree, for the baby) and it doesnt actually ease the contractions at all, but does keep you very relaxed, which in turn helps you to stay focussed during them. I had Amber without making any noise at all, i was so relaxed, and the birth was so easy. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

Hi Nobby...thanks for the info on the water birth, its nice to hear other peoples different experiences. Its good to hear the risk of tearing is less likely in the water! Im definatly going to enquire about a water birth i think, im at the hospital next week so i will ask about it then...OMG scan is only 1 week away! im so excited! Im off to work tomorrow till saturday so will chat when im back. thanks again nobby. love amanda & baby x

Thats ok, dont be put off by your midwife - consultant if they discourage the W/birth. I had to find a 2nd consultant to agree to mine (for once i was so appreciative to have a foreign and open minded consultant - even if i couldnt understand what he was saying! lol) and luckily my midwife wanted the experience so was all for it! Thats why i sed it depends on hospital policies and whether you have a nice team behind you or not!

I had a water birth with my first, & loved it, i got in when i was ready to push it took a half hour to push her out but felt like 5 mins every one is right about it relaxing you near the end, now i tore a little bit but didnt feel it i was stitched up, she was 8lb 3oz my 2nd was 9lb 3oz 30min labour on a bed on my back & didnt tear at all , my 3rd was 7lb 15 & a half 15mins on bed & a 1st degree tear that can be left to heal on its own & 4th on my bed at home just me & my hubby with the other 3 asleep in there beds no help was the best birth out of all 4 & most relaxed. I had no pain relif with any of them. dont worry about if you tear as you dont feel it, if you do, ask what degree it is? as a 1st degree can be left a 2nd depends where it is & a 3rd degree has to be stiched. just take arnica with you as it speeds healing up.

I was in my normal size 12 jeans at 6months pregnant, only started showing at about 7months and didnt get big until the last two weeks before giving birth (and i was two weeks overdue!) Often wondered how big she would have been if i'd given birth when i was due to!
2nd time around - dont ask!!!! lol I think i was showing before i even GOT pregnant!!

Added to which i have a grumpy hormonal dog growling at anything which moves coz shes in season...and another sexually fustrated one coz hes been castrated but still has the urge..!!
Roll On September, and my normal routine!! :-)
