Hello. A wireless adapter is only used if you have WiFi. If you have a network card in the computer, a lead is plugged into it and the other end in to the router. The router is then plugged in to your phone line. All the instructions come with the router. If you don't have them you can get them on the internet. You have to log into a 'web page' which is actually in the router. Then complete the wizard or follow on screen instructions/manual. Good luck.

Hello. If the computer is Widows98 you might have some trouble connecting a wireless adapter to it. If it is WindowsXP, then it is very easy; you just plug the adapter into a USB socket after loading the disc that comes with it.
If the computer is W98 and definitely has a network card and is near the router, then the easiest thing to do is run a network cable to the router.

Hi Charlie, It was on windows 95, I put it on xp. It was bought in 2000 and is the kind you put your monitor on top, not a tower. It says the connection is excellent but, I think it needs a wireless adapter. Will I need a long ethernt cable to connect it to the router in my sons bedroom? Thanks Carrie.x

Hello. All you need is a USB wireless adaptor. It will take only a few minutes to set up. Here is the one I use: http://tinyurl.com/6625ov It costs 18.80, but you can get others for less. I have also got it working on Windows98SE (Special Edition), but didn't have any luck on W98.

Thanks Charlie, I got a usb adapter, for £12. It worked great with my laptop(which is being repaired at the moment) My sister said it must not be wireless enabled. I emailed packard bell, they asked what wireless adapter did I have installed. They can only deal with a query if you ring them £1.50 a minuet the first three give you multiple choices (£4.50) and no advise what a swizz.
