I had my car mot'd at the start of the year and they told me the clutch was heavily worn and it would need replaced soon. The car has started to require a lot of force for it to go into 3rd and 4th and 2nd is starting to follow (it only seems to haapen when shifting up and it fine when selecting it as a lower gear).

Is this the clutch starting to go or the the gear box on its way out too?

The car is 6years old and only done 34k. There is no signs of the clutch slipping and car doesn't seem to be over-reving.

Any Ideas

Try moving into neutral, then momentarily let the clutch up. Then depress and select the required gear.

Does this have any effect?

Thanks for the help, found out its the gear linkage cable thats starting give in. Aparently it has to be back ordered from Ford (cause they used escort one when they built the car) which is gonna cost around £200.

Any ideas on where i could one at a better price?
