Hello to everyone you might remember me asking if anybody had a male ginger tabby kitten to give ir sell to a good home, well i have decided to adopt one from the rspca instead,i already have a female nuetered cat who i rescued from them befor and i have noticed that when other cats come into our garden she puts her back up and makes strange noises at them, which makes me a bit worried that if i brought a kitten home she might go for it,i wanted to ask if anybody has any advice on how to introduce them and to help them get along? i could really do with some help thankyou to all.

Hiya, i bought a dog-cage and popped a bed in there, with a litter tray and food/water bowls and lots of hanging toys from the roof! I did it more to keep the kitten safe from the dogs, but also to introduce the cats without them being able to hurt each other. I gave it about a week of cuddling to give the kitten our family scent, and introduced them properly. They get on ok together, the odd scrap here and there! But its to be expected - kitten invaded original cat's home! lol
He still sleeps in the dogcage now, he likes it as its his own little space.

Your original cat yowls at neighbouring cats coz they are invading her territory - as soon as she gets used to the kitten she wont do this to him. They will probably work together at getting the neighbouring cats out - mine do!! lol And as kitty sed, you may find that it will bring the kitten out in your older cat too..i've noticed mine is a lot more playful now.

I have three female cats all introduced separately, I done a similar thing to Nobby, I used a bedroom and kept the new cat in there, they would sniff each other out under the door, I would then switch the resident cat into the bedroom and let the new cat around the house, swapping bedding and getting them used to each others sent, all my females get along fine, it was a little harder the last time it took me three weeks but that was only because I introduced an older cat. Good luck, I hope all goes well.

I've always found it easier to introduce older cats, Marley is the first kitten i've had for a loooong time! I think i was a bit more worried about introducing him as i thought my older cat would hurt him - i couldnt have been more wrong though! Although the older one will pin him, and sometimes it looks really painful and gets noisy, Marley NEVER has a scratch/cut on him! Whizzy on the other hand is constantly covered in cuts where the kitten keeps jumping on him and playing too roughly. I expect your older cat will pleasantly suprise you, they are a lot more tolerant than you think.

Yesssss pictures please!! I used to have a white one with yellow eyes, which we rescued from a bucket of water at about 4wks old, he was tiny! We called him Babe. I think someone stole him, or he was murdered following several threats by neighbours (he did like those bin-bags...!) Either way, he disappeared, and i was heartbroken. My first kitten!
PICTURES PLEASE!!! :-D
