i have had an on going problem with my car a 2003 peugeot 307 there is a spinnng noise in the steering whees it has been back to the garage 4 times and the noise came back again today?

does anyone have a similar problem

This sounds like a problem with the rotary coupling behind the steering wheel for the airbag.
Or possibly even a dry top steering column bearing but the former sounds more likely.
I'm assuming the garage actually checked the steering column cowling isnt scuffing off the back of the steering wheel, this isnt as common a fault as it used to be in cars.

the garage say the steering is fine but it is affecting the steering when turing right with a pulling affect this has happend 5 times and the have my car as we speak trying to fix it? they said it was a dry bushing?

they left me driving the car with petrol fumes coming into the car if you ask me they have no clue

I dunno alot about the 307, but it could be it's got electric power steering rather than being drive belt driven. The noise your hearing is the electric motor spinning away. If it's getting very loud the electric motor is probably beginning to fail. IMO electric power steering is not that great, and I have read about alot of cars where it's gone wrong.

hi thanks for your reply, as i got my car back and all problems were still there so i sold it that day and got a nice mondeo thank god i will never ever look at a pugeot again it was a very expensive mistake?
