Is it a pc or laptop, either way unless it has wi fi built in you will need to install/or get usb adapter to connect,pc card to install inside pc is about £20/30 depending on make model,as long as you install according to instructions it should work first time and no wires

hi there
all you need is a wireless router around 40-50 pound and you can run a few pc's off that with no wires.i have 6 running off one router.regardless of pc or laptop.if you go for the netgear router it should come with a dongle to plug into your usb port. that way you do not need a built in pc card.i have 2 running on this and the rest have the cards in.hope this helps.julie

You are talking about a VPN connection, however if your pc's are running xp home edition it wont work, you need at least one of your pc's to be running xp professional or xp media center which is really xp professional.

The pc using Professional becomes a terminal server, this setup is a real cool way of having a network. Libraries, internet cafe's, workplaces use this setup.

Worth having if you have the correct operating system.

I have a table top computer up stairs and a lap top, I plug the laptop in to ethernet lead to main computer to get windows up dates but would like to get the internet in the conservatory with wireles, netgear seems to be the thing.
Will I need to have the desk top computer switched on or just the net gear.
I have broadband Virgin.

Hi Careaker

You will only need the netgear router powered on to get a wireless signal.
