..today I am on the verge of tying mine to their beds and going out for the peace and quiet. My daughter lost the comb this morning, found it, argued over it, son threw it, great shot, she now has a nasty cut in her hair, would think that her head had fallen off, do you think they would ban visits from kids if you got caught tying them to their beds??

Please be advised, my kids are at the legal tying up age, 14 and 12, I believe it is illegal if they are under 10, but as they are very nearly adults - I've seen what comes out of high school - it should be ok! Any real changes to this law, I am unaware of, please advise. Many thanks.

ps, we are really past feeding the ducks, could turn into another fun day out though!

Oh my word! How do uou think teachers cope with thirty odd kids day in, day out when parents are fed up after only a few days of the school hols!!!! Kids will ALWAYS be bored, they always have been and always will be, it is part of being a kid. So don't worry, just let them get on with their moaning and as long as they don't spend all day in front of the computer or tv then they will grow into normal adults and look back on school hols with wonderful memories!!!!! But then of course the whole thing will start again when you get grandkids!!!!!!

Im a nursery nurse and spend my days with at least 35 preschoolers, lol. I must be mad!!!!! its not so much a problem for me them being bored its finding ideas for things to do that dont cost a fortune and take more time than five minutes without them moaning!! We love bike rides, farms, parks and walking the dog, which are all free.
Its alot easier at work though as there are alot more things at hand to do. Also as the toys are not "theirs" Its something different to them and so they get more enjoyment. As parents we all know that with children they will always play with another childs toys more than with their own. My children will play for hours with something in someone elses house but in my house its "boring". My kids are only happy with something to moan about!!

Well im in similar position - i cant drive so anywhere we go has to be on the bus which costs £5 to get to the closest town, and thats before we do anything else like shopping or even going to the park/feed the ducks etc. They can only walk the dog/go on bike rides so many times before getting bored of that and coz we recently found out our neighbour is one of those who LIKES children in bad way, im seriously reluctant to let them out without me! I dunno about them being bored, but I am! lol
Its my youngest's birthday on Tuesday too and hubby is working, so am seriously stuck for things to do and how to get there! Am NOT having a party, dont have any kids near enough to get here at short notice anyway. Feel a bit bad for her really, am hopefully going to take her to a riding stables at the wkend as a special treat!

i too understand your frustration .my youngest two have problems . so they are not allowed to play out doors without a adult ,i have no parents for them to visit and i don't drive but hubby does ..but taking them out costs a arm and a leg ..but for a treat we are taking them well 3 to the coast.. but that all cost money so we are limited on the amount of days we can do that ..i think the school holidays well the 6 week ones are far to long ,and who invented teacher training days ?why can't they have them in the holidays .and just to remind you all Christmas follows soon after the 6 week holidays ..i bet your sat looking at your screen and saying ooooooooooooo Karen SHUT UP !!!!!! well i would be LOL well i better get back to the washing don't you think you do lots more when kids are on holiday ..i wash AT least 3 times i day ..4 when its bedding ..yep washers don't last me very long ..two years max ..

2 yrs, you do well lol, ive had 4 in the past yr!!! I work in a school and know that for some reason they only seem to do courses for teachers during term time. I have no idea why and totally agree that it makes more sense to have training days during holidays!
Its probably a money saving issue with the government as contrary to popular belief teachers dont actually get paid over the holidays, Their wages are just added up and spread out over 12 mths. So to do traing days in the holidays would mean paying all the teachers. That is the only reason i can think of any way.
ROLE ON SEPTEMBER!!!!!! Yeah my youngest is full time!!!

I have no idea how i managed it with the washers!!! Ive only got 2 kids. hehehe, I cant decide if i am either too clean and wash the stuff too often or and a filthy person who HAS to wash so often.lol. My eldest is about to start junior school and my little one is about to start infants. Its been hard for me and my little one as i work in the nursery school she went to, So we have never had a break from each other. We do each others heads in lol. I can see our relationship improving greatly in september. and it will give me an hours peace in the afternoon, after finishing work and then picking them up!! Its sounds great.
