help with restoring old wooden bodied marmet
Messages 1 to 1 of 1.
The pram body has raised ends and is upholstered in what looks like folded padded cream leatherette/early vinyl, the body has a well with a stopper in the middle which reads Marmet. The boards are fixed both ends with a detachable board for the middle. they are covered in an oilcloth type of fabric with little stars on, (It smells a bit). The plywood is coming off at the handle end near the pouch thing and rather than stick it back I thought I might replace it as it quite marked. does anyone know where I could source thin ply to do this work plse? The body has raised mouldings which are picked up with two fine coachlines, the moulding at one end is coming off the pram and the paint has flaked. I thought I would sand it all down and then respray, is this the best way forward? The hood is huge, and is a sort of gaberdine type material, which is quite worn at the hinges on the hood, but there are spares of little corners which I suppose the previous owner bought to cover the damage. the wheels are badly pitted and new tyres would be nice, does anyone know of a rechromer near Hull? I have spent five hours today reading through this entire thread so am intrigued by all the wealth of experience to be had from you all, you sound a nice bunch and any help would be gratefully received. If I can get a picture I will try to post one as I would love to know about the age, model etc of this pram but unfortunately I am not very computer literate. Thanks in anticipation
